Don't like a the culture and language, a bit annoying imo. Beautiful people though and great work ethic.

Sloots come and go but moms are forever
Get to know your parents: you never know when they'll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings: they're your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Enjoy your body: use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or of what other people think of it: it's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.

Yep. Strong fatalism with respect to that stuff as well as declining population, etc. Sadly it seems fewer young people have an interest in learning about and/or spending time overseas. Becoming more insular and resigned to its fate.
For a work visa I think you need to be sponsored by an employer. Not sure what work you'd do if you don't speak the language. Maybe bartender or waiter or something in a bar that just caters for foreigners. Might be some low level positions in international companies depending on your skills (e.g. IT or document specialist with high level desktop publishing skills). I think I know of some people who have come over and gotten into recruitment with no Japanese language skills. Not sure how easy it is to come over on a tourist visa and then switch to a working visa. They're pretty strict about that stuff. I think you probably also need a university degree. To be honest, coming over as an English teacher would be your best bet in terms of getting a visa and pay. I know people who have done that to get a visa, then built up their language skills before trying to find other positions.Misc Cologne Crew

Japan's crime stats are massaged.
Found a dead guy in the river with his throat slit? Well, we're not sure it's murder, so lets just call it a death! lolI don't lift weights, I flex under duress.

I visited Japan twice, was there for about a month both times.
It was vacation, so I can't speak for what its like to actually live there, but I had a ton of fun. I love their ramen, and the people were generally very respectful and nice to me (I'm from the US).
Don't forget that Japan does not have a tipping culture, and it is even considered rude to try and tip them for services. Every restaurant I went to the waiters were ON TOP of their sh!t, and they were polite as fuk.
brb tipping $20 on any given meal in my home country just to have the half-retarded waitress treat me like an d-bag.
The one thing that did surprise me is that some things are randomly low-tech, or they'll be really cheesy looking (aka trying to look high tech but actually are just stupid).
this article rings true to me:

If I could land a sick IT job like I have at home in tokyo, I'd move there for sure. ****ing great place, awesome food, and nice people.

Any country where men are worked to the bone until they become socially awkward ******* who have to pay women to cuddle with them is not the best
Indifferent if any material advances. The only reason there is no crime there is BC most crimes are committed by men and the men population is beyond beta we are talking about nearly all men
If you arent a social ******* go to Japan get laid every night regardless of looks

Good mention of that movie, I really loved it. She was despicted as inferior by her bosses, because she wasn't japanese. Like if being non japanese was a mental disease, that's mostly what I recall from seeing that movie. It gives you a good idea of japanese thinking in the 80's.
But the girl from whom the movie was inspired is quite strange. It's based on her story, her father was a diplomate from belgium in Japan and she lived several years in Japan, she was fully fluent in Japanese, but always regarded as an outsider. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am%C3%A9lie_NothombKey to a great body : a great diet with enough proteins, lot of sleep, not buying tons of supplements, proper form and dedication
