Is SEEMINGLY low bodyfat safe for somebody who was obese?

I am wondering if because of the extra fat cells, if I was to get to a point where I appeared to be at 10% body fat, would I actually be much less? Because some of that will be empty fat cells, and not actually functioning as essential fat? I mean, is it possible that I can appear to be at 10%, but actually be much lower because of the extra fat cells?

Mostly I am worried that maybe visibly I will look like I have 18% body fat, but realistically I only have 10% body fat, and the rest is extra, empty cells...so if I tried to get down to where I looked like I had 10% in that case, I would end up with an unhealthy low amount...I dunno. I don't know if this is even a real concern, I'm just kind of a worrywart sometimes.

I would hate that if realistically, maintaining a 10% body fat meant looking like I was at 18% and will therefor always look fat unless I dip down to unhealthy levels.

    I understand you
    You will be fine OP
I went from 220 obese and now 160 7% and it looks fine...skin tightens over time but you will notice it when you sit down initially but standing up will look fine

    Does this answer your worry?

Lol. I wasn't really talking about loose skin, I am talking about extra fat cells! Will they make me look like I am at a higher body fat percentage than what I really am. Like can I look like I am at 12% body fat, but really be at some crazy low number like 4%

No, he was talking about extra fat cells. When you get obese your body creates extra fat cells to cope with the extra fat it has to store, these fat cells however, cannot be destroyed. I guess the question is, how much space do the extra empty fat cells occupy.

You're welcome. Although I don't really know the answer, I've seen people who were previously obese maintain a visual 8% for quite some time, if that 8% was really 4% it would be impossible to maintain.

How obese are we talking exactly? If you have any idea. If not it is a good point anyway, so thanks again.

Took a look at that guys profile and found it very reassuring. Judging by his pictures it would at least appear that extra fat cells do not take up as much space as I imagined.

Yea your body will minimize them
Fat cells can't ever fully die but they do get so small that its irrelevant
Although that guys stomach just looks weird... I don't know something off about it but it has nothing to so with his previous weight that's on him and his training seems uneven....

Loose skin at the bottom and small obliques, he hasn't been lifting long but is working on filling out his core. Nothing wrong with training it was just a natural imbalance he is working on fixing.
