Grip strength problems with double overhand deads

I just switched to doing double overhand, and my grip gives out way too soon. The other day I went for a PR and could had gotten another 2 reps but my grip gave out. Any suggestions or will my grip just improve as I keep doing deads this way?

If holding the bar while using an over/under grip becomes a problem THEN address grip weakness but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just keep using an over/under.

Why are you going for a PR on deads with a DOH grip?

No I don't. I tried hook grip also after hearing that its stronger than double over hand, but It seemed the same or even weaker to me

Use double overhand til the weight gets heavy enough where u need to switch to over/under... If you want to improve your grip high rep shrugs and kroc rows do wonders

More or less. But if hook grip is weaker than DOH for you, then you're doing something wrong. If there are people who can pull ~900lbs with a hook grip there's no reason you can't pull whatever you pull with it.

I'm more confused as to why you switched from mixed grip to DOH and expected it to make your grip less of a problem.

Why go for a PR if you know your grip is weak with a double over hand? That doesn't make much sense.

Stick with a mixed grip for your heavier sets and PR attempts. Work your double over grip on your warm up sets/lighter sets. Work on grip work as well on the side.

Mix it up however you want if you feel if it'll improve your overall grip but if you're going for a pr, use what you know works best
