    The Supplement Pyramid concept

    Below is a link explaining an old concept I do believe was started way back when by Will Brink and published in Bill Phillips' supplement review;
    http://www.muscleevolution.co.za/ind...nt-pyramid-pg1

    Cliffs
-It goes over how and when to use AND WHEN NOT TO USE specific supplements based on your level
-4 levels on the supplementation pyramid
-the base starts with the basics (food, macros, a multi, etc.) and increases in complexity as your experience and needs grow

There are 3 pages in the link. There is a "next" button at the bottom of the page to continue reading the article.

I have been aware of this pyramid for a loong time now and just wanted to share with those of you looking at buying supps in relation to where you are with your training, and not have you waste your money.
Too much marketting, too much hype, and lots of confusion out there.

I do not agree with all the supps (glutamine in particular) mentioned nor their level (whey protein is food imo) but the article does a good jub of sorting the wheat from the chaff.

    Have at 'er.

    At least one reply!
    Exodus 20:12
"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."

    Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

    Bruises: The trophies that disappear.
    Scars: The trophies that linger.
Garnering both of the above honorably: Glory that lasts forever.

glutamine is subject for debates of course, but I still take it. Somehow, my best gains coinsided with periods of time when I was using glutamine among other things. I will never know what exactly has worked at that period of pronounced growth. As for the article, I do not understand the whole pyramid idea. Say, will beginner not benefit from taking creatine and good quality whey proteins? How about tribulus for level 2 athlete, whats wrong with taking it. The same about BCAA's and vitamin C, why would one consider them at the higher level but not for beginner athlete? Kind of puzzled, I ended up taking pretty much everything on the list, and I am by no means hard core competitive BB'er.
