only reason was because school went full potato and decided to have prom in the fuking school cafeteria while charging the same amount of money that they did the previous year, when they had prom at some off-campus location
i decided i didn't want to pay a chitload of money, rent outfit, etc. just to show up at the cafeteria for a few hours...fuk dat chit

Went with a friend of a friend.
Didn't have that much fun and spent a ton of money.
I hated dressing up and having pictures taken. Made me more tense than usual and I couldn't enjoy the night.
Only good thing was parents were proud of me.
I didn't go to my senior or junior prom because I was a beta phaggot at the time. In all seriousness, go out and have a good time with some friends even if you can't get a date. It's not a huge deal, but at the same time it'll be something that bothers you in the back of your head if you don't.

I overhear a conversation about prom at least 2-3 times a day at school , seems like a huge deal
Of course people are talking about it dude, but afterwards its irrelevant in the scheme of things. People will talk about it for the next month and then that'll be it.
Prom is just a lot of fun in some ways, especially if you're going with a girl who you can/will plow afterwards. But when I went I wasn't constantly thinking or worrying about who else I knew that wasn't there. I didn't care.
But again, just don't give a fuk if it really bothers you at school. A year from now very few people will remember and not care that harpoonbrah didn't show up.
i didnt go.
most of my friends did, none of them cared that I did.
3 years later dont regret it
no FA, just didnt want to spend that amount of money.
the number of kids talking about how much of a waste of money it was after always made me lol
Don't go just because you feel a societal pressure to go. If you want to go, then go. If you don't want to go, then don't go.
However a piece of advice (if that's what you're looking for): I went to prom with my gf at the time. It sucked balls, I did not have a good time. The food sucked, we had security watch us so there wasn't any risque dancing, among other things. But when I think back on it, I'm glad I went simply because prom is once in a lifetime and it's an experience that even though wasn't all that great, I'm glad I went through.
a lot of ppl dont go, but why dont u go? i'll give u $40 to go. srs.
i had a great time. good memories. it only happens once. live life bro.
if you dont go to prom you arent living life bro
EDIT: On topic, didn't go. Just didn't want to. Pretty sure I went out drinking with a couple buddies who also couldn't be fuarked to pay $80 to hang out in the school gym. No regrets, most likely would have really not enjoyed myself. I heard the food was brutal. Happy that I do things that I actually want to do in life. I suggest you do the same.
It's a mindphuck going back and looking at a Zyzz thread and then seeing that people who have replied have RIP ZYZZ messages in their sigs.
I didn't go, I was a chinese kid in a caribbean and black and indian school. A lot of my friends didn't go.
For the husband who told his wife he loved her before his plane went down in a field. For the wife who stopped in the stairs to call her husband to say she will love him forever. For the mothers & fathers who kissed their kids goodbye that morning for the last time. For the policemen, firemen, & other rescue workers who rushed in to help others & lost their lives. For the soldiers who fought back & made the ultimate sacrifice. Today, tomorrow, years from now, we will remember.
