title says it all, assuming no decline/incline just a flat bench.

Pretty much, whichever width you feel strongest. Some guys like index finger on the rings for maximum decrease in range of motion, other guys go with ring finger on the rings, some guys go close grip.
I think most heavy pressers go with some some finger on the rings, since you cut down on the rotation of the shoulder as well as decrease range of motion.
But bottom line is experiment with different grip widths and see which one you prefer.

It also depends on the frame/shoulder width of the lifter.
Most 6' and under, raw guys I see in the 220-275 range seem to grip middle fingers on the rings.
I train with one guy who is 6'1 and 6'4 and they both grip index finger on the rings (wider than me)630/500/550 - 1680 3/29/15

Usually seems to be that equipped benchers grip as wide as possible, for the shorter ROM. Also, because the shirt negates a lot of the stress and sticking point associated with the bottom end of the movement.
The real variable is with raw benching RAW. Many different grips used by some great raw benchers, use whatever's strongest.
I personally use a medium grip as it seems strongest to me.

Bench Grips
I vary my grip for more well rounded development.
I found with max allowed grip I can bench 5-10% more than with a shoulder width grip BUT if my narrow grip bench goes up my wider grip bench goes up as well.Jack Savage

I've always been stronger at full comp grip index on rings. But I also don't think that will be optimal in the long run. Going to try and bring it in a bit like middle or ring on rings.
