Try to aim for 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 hours sleep. Find your sweet spot. You may want to up your fat and Carb intake too. Cut back on coffee 1-2 cups a day but not after noon. Here's a TED talks I watched today on sleep and the effects it has on our mind and body. I think you will find it very informative.

i go thru the same thing and had same thought process as you, thought maybe it was sleep, then thought depression, then even thought magnesium deficiency, etc. etc. on nights i don't go out for drinks right after work or don't go to gym (i'm usually tired throughout these activities as well) as soon as i get home i can lay on my bed and fall asleep right away. i've been trying to watch sons of anarchy but as soon as i sit down i want to just pass out. i like my job and i have some good friends, overall pretty happy i guess. i'm green and have 197 rep power so that's going ok for me too. i think it is simply boredom. when i'm on vacation or doing something i really enjoy i'm not tired tho. there was a three month span during this year where i was meeting up with this girl i liked alot and i was never tired. if she got home from work at 1130pm (i get out at 5pm) i didn't even care i would be wide awake and looking forward to it. it was fun and exciting and i had energy from the moment i got up until i went to bed.

It may be that I'm bored with life, work for myself, always alone, no gf, no friends, no contact with people other than gym or misc. = always tired.
Was on vacation 2weeks ago for 8days and slept prob 6hrs a night and was always energetic.
