Just wondering what people's preferred prep time was. I know its a pretty personal thing and everyone is different, just wonderin how long you would prep for a comp for? 12 weeks not enough? 20 weeks too long?
Just up for discussion is all

8 weeks tops. I keep it to 6.
Gauge your plan for a loss of 1# per week and add another week or two for wriggle room.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

As a female we take long to lean out due to the fact that genetically our bodies hold on to our fat longer. We were created to store fat for pregnancy and there for someone who's female this process should start before that of a males. I also believe it depends on other multiple factors such as: your goal weight/ muscle mass/ how lean you want to be/ where you're starting from and what competition you're doing/ category. As a female who stays pretty lean year round I like to start at 14 weeks out. My goal for each comp is to be leaner and more defined with an overall better package than the last competition. With muscle maturity and learning how your body reacts to certain diets this becomes easier with each comp. Some people lean out on high carbs because their body can process them properly, some on mod, some low and others on none, (that being said, almost everyone can lean out on no carbs but they cannot properly function as a normal human being) I for one can say that on no carbs I have a ton of energy but my body looks flat the majority of the day. For a male who is in a leaner state but no show ready, 12 weeks is perfect. for someone who's a little bigger they may need more time. If their goals also involve gaining muscle mass than they will need the extra prep time for a clean bulk. I personally also believe that cardio has a large affect on how lean you come in. how much and when you're doing your cardio. If you're doing it fasted than are you taking your BCAAs to ensure no unnecessary muscle loss? I personally take Nutrabolic's Anabolic state when I'm doing my fasted cardio which at 8 weeks out right now is 5x a week for 45 minutes. How intense are your workouts? are you taking a pre workout to amplify your intensity? are you taking creatine? and a post workout ? Utilizing a post workout with gluatmine, creatine and protein will ensure quick muscle recovery. I personally use Isobolic protein as it has 3 different types of protein in it which allows for digestion at 3 different periods of time (plus I love the taste of their chocolate!...mmmm). Therefore in regards to your question I feel its too generic to give an answer based on your body as I don't know the finer details but I do believe as humans we can do anything we put our mind to. Whether you have 12 weeks or 20 make sure youre pushing your hardest and never give up !

everyone is different.i say its depends where your bodyfat is at if its 8-10 range you can get lean faster if its higher you may need more time to burn fat.like myself i'm training for a show i have alot of muscle but still higher range body fat so i'm on 13 weeks out.everyone is different.so find what works for you and go from there.you can do all protocols out there but only you know what works best for your body.keep working hard!
