Hit a training PR. 170kg (374lbs) for three singles. Would have went higher but these damn kids hogged up all the small 2.5kg and 5kg plates, and i didn't want to make that big of a jump.

I didn't finish the program example of pulling PRs in week 7/8 as like most people I plugged in an over-optimistic desired max. However for a fat guy like me (or for anyone else I would imagine) the assistance work was invaluable. On meet day you are going to be pulling when fatigued which is why the program is great in my opinion, though I would choose a conservative max.
I aint even mad bro. You're just jelly I bribed everyone into not posting in your journal.

What do you guys think about this? I'm stuck trying to drop weight. I did drop 10 lbs in December now I've been bouncing between 295 and 305 and my coach wants me to continue to drop weight until I'm about 280lbs by May. I want to drop the weight as well but I also want to get strong doing so (counter productive isn't it?) But my weight room numbers are in the crapper right now trying to adjust to a low carb diet. So should I have a chat with my coach and let him know I'll drop the weight I mean it's only 20lbs just let me do it slowly so I can get strong?

I have never had luck doing low carb. I do much better on carb cycling and adding in some gpp stuff. It would help to know what your training days are and activities you do. On my heavy days, i did high carbs. On medium days, I did low carbs. I never went to the no carb on non training days because carbs are delicious, but some people have. As my intensity rose, so did my carbs and vice versa. I had a lot of success with carb backloading while carb cycling. Basically you gotta find something you want to try and run it and see what works.

Well from now until May I'm lifting 4 days a week. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. My heavy lifts are Sunday and Monday, my Wednesday lift is long I so it's a medium to heavy and Thursday is lighter because we compete on Fridays or Saturdays. I saw an article by Nate Winkler that makes a lot of sense for what I want to do I just want to figure out what would work better for me because I don't want to try several different things and come up empty.

Rip article on Crossfit. CrossFit: The Good, Bad, and the Ugly by Mark Rippetoe
Why can't CrossFit: The Business Model solve the problem? Because it doesn't want to. Hell, it doesn't need to: at eight to ten completely sold-out Level I "certs" every weekend, each of which may enroll 50 participants at $1000 each, it would be very difficult to convince any sane person that CrossFit has any problems at all.
Here's one aspect of the problem: how many of these approximately 500 people failed? How many certified CF Level I "coaches" are actually qualified to coach CrossFit or anything else? How many have the experience to understand The Bad – the limitations of WOD programming – and how to correct it?

actually someone was telling me that with the gyms around here, you have to be a member first before they even think of hiring you as a crossfit trainer as well. so lump that on the cost.
i do want to take that mobility seminar though.MISC STRENGTH CREW

thats how I started.. my gym was new (less than 6 months when I joined)... I really enjoyed it and spent a lot of my time at the gym, the owner said hey how about I pay you to get certified. I said sure and then spent like 3 months assisting him before running classes on my own.
I havent looked into any other crossfit certifications (they are all $1k!!!!) I am signed up to get my USAW sports performance cert in march though

Once I'm certified I plan on looking for a position with a university in either their Olympic Sports staff or football really I don't care. If I don't find a paying job my first choice is to do a masters program at the University of Louisville for S&C if I don't get in there any other university grad assistant position I'd take as long as it's worth it.

When I live in Canada there are never any free supp samples or product testing.
When I go to the USA there are hundreds of them.

so went to the doc today. He played with my knees and did some xrays. Waiting on xray results but he said my knees felt fine. No grinding or clicking or anything bad, which I already knew.
He's suggesting I probably just have pantella arthritis. Gave me some info on stretches and mobility work to do.
I guess I'm ok with this. It could be worse.
I can still squat no problem and knee pain free. Its just bending forward putting a lot of weight on the knees or running at anything over a jog that irritates it.**MISC STRENGTH CREW**
