    Bowflex Uppercut

I'm one of the guys who wants to work out but simply have no time. During the day I have my daughter and I work evenings. I decided to go calisthenics because I can get away with working out at home. Then I saw the commercial for the Bowflex Uppercut and it seems promising so I ordered myself one. I read a couple of magazine and health reviews and they all swear by it...good. I guess now I'm looking for user reviews for a piece of mind. Anybody have any experience with this machine and want to share their opinion on it?

$100 for a Bowflex Uppercut? Buhahaha
Wow did you get taken advantage of.

Don't worry, we've all been there at some point. There's been people injured because of the whole Bowflex hype, people really believe they're benching 300lbs. When in reality then they get to free weights and can't even do 120lbs. The whole Bowflex line(except maybe the Treadclimber but that's debatable) is a total scam.

Cancel order and demand refund and then save for free weights.

At first I thought you were a troll. But it just seems that you're mislead.

That Bowflex looks like the latest piece of junk they have released.

I saw a commercial for that thing the other day. Makes me laugh when you look at the condition the people demonstrating these things are in. You'd need some serious dedication with REAL gym equipment to look half as good as these guys. Absolutely no F'n way it had anything to do with a BowFlex of any type. Should be a law against this deception...

    ^^^^ This.

And it's another reason why I hate that company (and all the junk they sell to unsuspecting nooblets); they're just clever enough in their marketing to know exactly where the FTC draws the line between truth and unsubstantiated claims of results. There's not a better bunch of ganefs out there at that trick than the asshats who make/sell bowflex crap.

FTC has been successful at making them (bowflex) recall some of their junk due to safety issues, and a lot of reliability issues with that POS treadclimber, but that's it.

The scammers who used to hawk all those electric ab belt gizmos weren't so smart; FTC nuked all of them into oblivion a couple of years ago. Maybe eventually, bowflex will screw up and the same thing will happen to them.

Well you can return it after 30 days. The guys in the ads are real gym junkies, benching hundreds of lbs. This thing is for assisted pushups, more of a rehab tool for grandmas.

And I can't think of a more-fitting target for that moniker than the jokers who sell bowflex.

And while I'm ranting, something else that chaps my butt is that bowflex's parent company is Nautilus. And not the Nautilus that was the grandfather of all modern weight training equipment. The late Arthur Jones (RIP Mr. Jones; you were the innovator of the fitness revolution that took over this country in the early 70's), never trademarked his company's name. It (the Nautilus name) was taken over by the huge conglomerate that is now bowflex's (among other companies) parent company.

If Mr. Jones could see the crap that's being sold under the "Nautilus" banner these days, there would be hell to pay. He was a man who did not suffer fools gladly.

For those who don't know, Arthur's son Gary Jones is the founder of HammerStrength, and owned that company until a few years ago when he sold it to LifeFitness.

    Genius runs in that family.

Guise... you must all have missed seeing this on the website:

"The Bowflex® UpperCut's™ A.R.C. technology was proven in a southern California university study to activate up to 30% more muscles, enable up to 4X as many reps and deliver incredible control and stability. You'll work your body in ways you can't do alone, with perfect form, every rep, every time."

30% MORE MUSCLES! 4 X AS MANY REPS!!! Proven.

How much do you think I should list my Ironmasters for? I want a Bowflex Uppercut and a Tug Toner.

If you opt for a trimble tug, and give yourself a regular uppercut, you can save the $19.95 shipping.

I read a couple of magazine and health reviews and they all swear by it...good. I guess now I'm looking for user reviews for a piece of mind. Anybody have any experience with this machine and want to share their opinion on it?
Magazines exist to sell ads. Not provide the truth. Don't believe what you read just because it's in print. Bow flex, Soloflex. . . It's all crap.

What are your goals? What is your day like? How much room do you have at home? What is your budget?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Moar reps? Sweet! Though I think I can get 10x as many reps or more by just standing up and leaning slightly against a wall and doing "pushups" that way. More like pushouts, but hey, I get more reps, so that must be better, right? And I've never FELT so stable and in control! Dude, I just did some one finger pushouts. I feel like Bruce Lee!

Anyway, more reps probably isn't a good thing, and 30% more muscle activation than what, sitting on your couch eating popcorn? They don't say, so it could be that. I wonder if it might work OK for flyes, but then, I have dumbbells. I'm betting those work much better.

Honestly, for $20, I'd buy it, see how it was for flyes, and when I found out it sucked, throw it in the trash with no regrets. But I'm not throwing $100 in the trash.
