can the abs come through with plenty of cardio and strict dieting, but without specific ab training???? i hate doing abs but do 2+ hours of cardio a day and eat well

Buff bride to be
2+ hrs of cardio a day seems a little excessive...
It really depends. Some people naturally have good abs and have to do very little to work them. Keep in mind we use our abs all day, and when you do cardio, they help support you.
However, my abs didn't really start to come through until I started training them heavy. I usually do 2 times a week for 20-30mins and I did over a year of pilates so I am very strong.

Not Swimming.
Abs are very much an individual thing.
My sister doesn't train at all. The only thing she does is walk her dogs in the morning. She is a carbs addict and eats like an absolute pig.... pizza, pasta, potato bakes, chocolates, biscuits, ice-cream. You name it, she eats it.
**sigh** she looks like she has abs of steel.
Besides my normal cardio and weights routine (3 day split, 3 days HIIT, 1 day moderate intensity endurance) I train abs specifically 2 x a week. I also do pilates once a week and thai Boxing once a week (acts as my 5th cardio session). Both of these are very good abs work-outs. I eat very clean with a moderate carb, high protein and low fat diet (split 45-50: 30-35: 15) and at the moment my BF% is 13.8 (up recently from 12% which I thought was getting a little low to be healthy).
I still don't have good abs.
.....
**sigh**
