Hey guys I read up about the thread on bcaa's connection with lowering dopamine and leading to depression, just wanted to get your opinion's on how long until my dopamine levels return back to normal after stopping xtend? I've been taking 2 scoops of xtend intra w/o and have gone into severe depression the last few days, along with a loss of appetite and fever at night. I'm stopping taking xtend today. I've been on the above stated regimen for about 9 days now.
thanks in advance

thread name "BCAA & depression/mood"
This is the local thread name on the issue (I can't post links since I'm still under 50 posts). Apparently, free form bcaa's taken in large doses compete with other neuro-transmitter's such as tyrosine and triptophan, which block their ability to produce sufficient amount's of dopamine and serotonin which would in turn affect one's mood. I was fine and then out of the blue after about 5 days of taking 2 scoops of xtend intra w/o I got the above stated symptoms. That thread should have the science behind it as well.

It's theorized that bcaa's can compete with Tryptophan receptors which can delay the onset of fatigue during workout, but to cause depression you'd have to be taking very, very, very high bolus dosages and for a longer period of time than just 5 days.

I looked at my whey protein and it contains 10g's of bcaa's per 24 g's of protein for my post workout shake that me be fine, but i sometimes tend to supplement meals with extra whey protein and don't want to be taking that many bcaa's with it since my tendency towards low dopamine levels already. You guys have any whey suggestions low in bcaa's? What would be considered low like 2g's per 25 g's of protein? I'm sure there aren't any without them?

Personally, I can't touch BCAA's... even 5 grams ****s with me. My overall mood goes to absolute dog ****. I've done controlled experiments on this a have dozen times with myself to confirm it wasn't something else. ****ty mood, anxiety, feeling pissed off and absolutely 0 energy is how it affects me. (I've never taken an anti depressant or anti anxiety meds either... never been prone)
Now that being said, most people are totally fine with BCAA's... negative side effects are rare.- /\^/\^Colorado Crew^/\^/\
