What kind of carbs to eat pre-workout?

Ok so I'm seeing conflicting advice on the types of carbs that give you the best energy for a workout.

On one article it says to avoid high-fiber carbs because they digest slowly and they sit in your stomach longer while you're working out.

But a bb.com article says that you should eat slow-digesting and high-fiber carbs to fuel you longer.... which is it?

Now i know nothing is necessary and there's probably gonna be a couple of you that will say "eat whatever carbs you want." I just want to know which one will help me through my workout more efficiently.

It doesn't matter very much. If, (assuming you perform best when you've had a meal recently before lifting), you've not eaten for a while and are forced to eat right before lifting, simple carbs might be the better choice as if I'm not mistaken it gives you energy quicker than complex carbs. If you find yourself running out of energy then it might be time to

    a) look at your programming or

    b) not be a pussy

before you worry about certain kinds of carbs not giving you enough energy.
