Consuming just 1400 Calories but still not losing weight. Plz Help

    Hi Guys,

Can someone please help/advise me. I'm currently on a cut and consuming 1400 calories, working out 4 days a week, but I haven't lost weight for the last 4 weeks. My height is 5'6 and weigh 156 lbs, so I worked out my maintenance to be around 2000 calories.?

Have I somehow slowed down my metabolism?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

You're probably counting wrong, 1400 is pretty low

Are you absolutely sure that you are consuming 1400 calories?

What would you be willing to bet on that? Check, double-check, and check your checking. Be generous with the amount of calories you attribute to each meal.

Are you counting literally everything that goes into your mouth? Sauces like ketchup or barbecue sauce, or any type of juice/milk can add a lot of calories pretty quickly.

If your not weighing the food then myfitnesspal isn't much help. At 1400 you should be losing.

Yeah, that's fat is pretty stubborn. I'm trying to get rid of mine right now as well. Unless you're stuck for 1.5-2 weeks, it's not really a plateau

No real secret to it, if you take in less then what you require, then you should lose. Unless your metabolism has adjusted to your deficit. It may just be stubborn fat depending on how lean you already are though.

How long has it been since you last lost weight? How much have you lost total? What was your weight at the start of your cut? Whats your BF%? How long have you been cutting?

You don't need cardio right now. Honestly bro, my girlfriend's maintenance is 1400. You may need to forget about cutting and get some muscle on your body.

at 1400 calories, unless you have a metabolic/thyroid issue (highly unlikely) you will be losing fat; however, if you are new to training you may experience noob-gains (like I am getting now, but I am seeing results in the mirror even though the scale 'weight-loss' isn't reflecting my diet). have you seen any changes in the mirror? if not I can only assume that you are not counting correctly, what does your daily diet usually consist of?

Funny thing is Ive noticed my stomach get slightly flatter, but I there no measurement proof of this. My typical diet consists of 8 eggs, 90g of canned tuna, 70g of brown rice, a Banana, 150g of chicken and whey protein.

Guys. This isn't rocket science. OP is 5'6" and 156 pounds. 1400 calories may have worked to get him there but now it's his maintenance. If you want to keep getting smaller, eat less. It's that simple.

However OP, you might want to just accept maintenance for awhile and create your calorie deficit with excercise.
"It doesn't matter what exercise you do, but man was made to move, to eat sparingly, to work hard and to screw as much as he can manage. Do all that, and you will look as good as your genes will let you, be content as the arseholes around you will allow, and maybe get a few screws. The particular virtues of weight training are in the discipline it brings to both mind and body, and, if you do it right, it will make you look good naked and do well what you got your clothes off to do." Thanks DSUP, so 1400 calories being my maintenance doesn't sound good because after my cut, Il will start to add fat very easily. Is there a way how I can bring my maintenance back to my normal state of around 2000 calories?

1400 calories being a grown man's maintenance is absurd. I maintain that either he's counting his calories wrong, or he's not weighing himself consistently enough to see the drop in his weight against water weight fluctuations.

If you believe 100% that you are eating at 1400 calories, then drop it by 200, and eat like that for a few weeks, then come back if you still don't see any results.

OP needs to reverse diet and bulk for a while. No grown man should have a maintenance of 1400 cal.
