Hey all. Recently a science teacher made a statement that if someone goes to sleep within 2 hours of working out that all the work done will be for nought and that it will "turn to fat". I'm still pretty new to PT and told him I would look into the matter since I didn't have an answer for him. Has anyone else heard this? Is there any truth to it? I know personally I've never felt tired enough to sleep within 2 hours of working out as I'm usually energized for at least 3 hours. Any thoughts/insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

I cannot locate the studies for them online, but post-exercise naps lasting 10-15 minutes have been shown to aid in recovery. A few bodybuilders in the 'Golden Age' have even written about using naps to help with muscular growth. According to "The effect of prior endurance training on nap sleep patterns." (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20308699), the earlier in the day they are taken, the less likely they are to interfere with regular sleep patterns.
Hums the theme to Superman during planks and LYTPs. Now that you've read this, you will too.
All right boys, now watch how this is done. The key is to put it all in your groin and your back.
Take your legs totally out of the equation. Lift with your lower back in a jerking, twisting motion.

The issue he has is he is a science teacher , not specialized in hypertrophy or any other relevant bodybuilding subjects. Take his base knowledge and try to learn from it , but nothing particularly discussing exercise.
