HE is a HE. Not a she. HE has a penis, so HE should use the Men's room.

This is a simple thing. Just because a kid wants to believe that HE is a female doesn't mean HE should have access to the Women's room.

What makes you think that these 6 year old girls are all accepting and see another 6 year old girl? Most of them are probably confused and another handful uncomfortable and bothered by it.

That great thing about kids is that they ask questions and are blunt (well, it has a positive and negative side), but also accept fairly simple answers. I'm sure a 6 year old girl might ask, "Why is so-and-so in the girls bathroom? I thought he was a boy?" "Why does so-and-so wear dresses? He's a boy." How hard is it to say, "Well, so-and-so realized that she feels more comfortable as a girl and we're going to respect her choice. You don't have to treat her any differently, just treat so-and-so how you would like to be treated." Bam.

Honestly, these things are 10x easier to explain to children than to adults.

Actually, from personal experience with children, I think that the young girls are far more likely to accept it than any other demographic would be. And we are not discussing a boy who thinks he is a girl, we are discussing a girl with male anatomy.

In college I accidentally walked into a women's restroom and started taking a dump. It wasn't until I heard the girl next to me cough that I realized I was in the wrong one. When I first walked in I noticed some plants and **** that had never been in the men's restroom. I should have known something was amiss.

All I could do was say woops, then wipe my ass and leave.

My dorm bathroom had urinals in it.

It's been my experience that womens restrooms are just as gross if not grosser than mens ones. Leaving spray all over the seats, not washing hands... it's a biohazard stg. No amount of lounge chairs and shrubbery will make up for that.

From personal experience, humans born with male parts are very likely to accept that they are boys. Point is, there are outliers.

btw, i never said all the children would accept it as face value, but tough noogies? i didn't understand why the sky was blue till age 10 and this is after my dad had explained it to me 20+ times over the course of my lifetime. that didn't make the sky any less blue. much like sexual preferences, people don't have to "understand" gender queer individuals, merely respect them (that's always so hard, huh). if a person does harm, then the ball is in the court of the individuals harmed (hence why not all sexual preferences need to be respected since in cases there is harm and lack of consent; re: ****philia, bestiality, necrophilia ).

A very small percentage of the population "feel" uncomfortable being in one bathroom or the other and we start talking about we going to non-segregated bathrooms? I don't even... Brb, turning society upside down to make a few people feel comfortable.

This 6 year old boy is not transgendered. He's simply living out the way that makes him happy. Nothing wrong with that. Until his parents took it upon themselves to fight for their sons "right" and let this situation out of control. Just because the 6year old sees himself as a girl does not mean he is a girl. This simple point is somehow lost on the parents and anyone else who agrees that he should be able to use the girls washroom. He is a boy, let him continue to use the boys washroom and, when he's older and has a better understanding/grasp of who he is then he can make the informed choice of whether or not he is a man or woman.

I feel that being male or female is determined by one's physical traits (I'm not going to get into whether they are "natural" or "current").

I think that one believing he/she is of the (physically) opposite gender is largely social, as we have it set in us that girls do X or Y, and boys to L or Z. So if a boy wants to do X or Y he is still a boy, however he has female ambitions.

I believe that gender identity issues outside the social norm (XY, LZ) are mental abnormailities (not necessarially saying its a bad thing), but whether the individual is legally male or female should take guide certian things, such as males using mens bathroom, females using womens bathroom.

I feel worse for the school than anybody. What a shiitstorm this would be as there is really no "right or wrong" answer. I will be interested in seeing the outcome, and whether or not it will set the precedent.

I will say that at 6 years old no kid can make an executive decision like this. Who's to say the parents are pushing this issue to get in the spot light?
I saw this on google and realized as soon as I saw ALL their kids with dyed wild color hair. Im not against it. It just shows the public that these folks are a little out there.

When I was a kid I played with some girly toys but I eventually grew out of it bc my parents told me that boys dont play with stuff like that. My wife was a HUGE tom-boy growing up. She cut her hair like a boy one time and considered herself one til she was around Coy's age. I am now a 25yo heterosexual male and likewise with my wife. These parents need to step up and do whats right and tell this little kid that HE is a BOY. This instance in the spotlight will forever change this kids life, physically and mentally to the point where Coy doesnt know how to grasp what happened due to childhood innocence.

^. It's relevant because the story in the op is whether the boy with the identity issue should be able to use the girls bathroom. The student girls that will be in the bathroom will see a boy. They more than likely don't understand that he has gender identity issues and thinks he is or wants to be a girl.
