Question Ladies, Your Fav Affordable Gym Shoes:

Hello, of course everyone's idea of affordable will be different, & that is okay.

Could you please share with me some of your sneakers that you like to wear for lifting? Preferably no animal product.

    Thank You

I will also keep searching all of the other sub-forums.

I'm sorry, I guess I should have stated my price range: $125-$150, I may need to be fitted properly because my feet pronate I believe when I was fitted for runners a few years ago. I just have not been in the Gym, & I ride a bike for resistance training, but now will be getting help with a P.T. over the next year.

Well I don't actually use gym shoes (I workout at home in bare feet), but I think converse would be a good choice because of their flat and relatively thin soles. They're not a specific gym shoe so that should make them more reasonably priced.

I go barefoot (well,socks...) when I can. But otherwise...New Balance Minimus all the way! Not completely reasonable especially for what they are; but if you check your local TJMaxx you might find a pair for $50. Or check eBay if you know your size. They are barefoot type shoes so they're definitely different from what you might be used to but I love them.

Merrell Barefoot Pace Gloves. Although they aren't 'affordable' at nearly $99 a pair.

Chucks are always a good all around shoe, I like the high tops and I think they run around $40 or less

For benching and sometimes squats, I love my wei rui's - they were around $70 which is pretty affordable for oly shoes. They do have leather though.

For deadlifts I love matflexes, which usually run around $50 (I think), but if you have small girl feet, you can get the boys size and usually can find them on discount for like $20

Hi, I should have stated my price range, I am just not sure what is good out there. & I guess what the difference would be between runner's & indoor gym shoes. You know, & I don't want to have to spend $300 in the long run, because I purchase a cheaper pair of shoes that may not last.

I edited my entry paragraph, I can afford $125-$150. These ones look comfortable. I have never used indoor shoes. Just runners, for being active & on the bike. =)

Thank You, I know this will be a lot more trial and error on my part, finding what I like too. Thank You for adding what you like. I am going to do a quick search on all of these, before I head out for some hopefully painless shoe shopping. =)

I have big girl feet. lol 9-10. Good tips. =)

I don't lift in anything but Chucks. But if I go in a gym that likes to wax the floors I find it helps to sand paper the bottom of the chucks.

I use New Balance Minimus and they work well for me. I know they aren't a weight lifting shoe but for the amount of weights I work with they are ok for now. When I work up to heavier weights I might look into a proper weight lifting shoe.

I love my Vibram Fivefingers - pink and orange Bikilas. After those I can't go back to anything else. I used to wear Chucks - they're fine for powerlifting and the like but the Vibrams are way comfier.

    Smile Vibram

I wear Vibram five fingers. The KSO version. I first got them for my running to which they completely transformed my form and speed. I then started wearing them in the gym for lifting and squats, they are super. Because they are effectively bare feet but with a tread and great contact with the floor whilst squatting. They may take a little while to get used to but I couldn't recommend them enough!!

Inov-8s all day long. I have 6 pairs. Slightly obsessed. For squats and cleans/snatch, I use Reebok CrossFit oly lifting shoes.

lol, if y9our price range is a 100 or more there are plenty of awesome trainers to buy on places like amazon and zappo's. My last pair of new balance's minimus were like 50 bux on sale.

Yea, I hadn't realized they needn't be anything "specialty" the trainer I am working with, recommended Go Sketchers, I think. I am hoping that the one's I got will last FOREVER!! I just do not enjoy purchasing things that are cheap now, but $$$ in the long run, because they don't last. You Know? =)

I wear Crosstrainers when I'm weight training as I had a habit of turning my feet out. They cost £30 from Nike and from sportshoes.com

They're great as they keep your feet completely still and force you to go into position perfectly. I wear them for any strength workouts and body pump.
    Hope this helps

I was wearing my Reebok's but then my husband made me try a pair of Under Armor shoes and now that's all I wear when I'm in the gym. As for affordability I found a good pair of men's shoes that fit me just right and they cost me a lot less than the women's did at about $50.

Got a pair of Inov-8s around Christmas time for ~$100. I had been using the Adidas version of Five Fingers prior, and they were pretty good, but the Inov-8s are just SO much better. I wanted shoes that would be simultaneously appropriate for squats, DLs, and box jumps, and they are perfect for all three. I've also found them great for erging and spinning Not to mention that they look pretty sick too... I'll probably never buy another style ever again.
