I concur, SPF judge. I'm also a fan of Inzer Grippers. Titan Titaniums worked fine for me, and my favorite are Max RPMs.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on the Signature Golds because all the cool kids were using them. I was going to buy some, but then I went to a gym and a buddy had a pair. I was really shocked at how they felt--not at all like I thought. You can't get any stretch out of them. It's really frustrating trying to wrap someone in them because they look all stretchy and like you'd really be able to crank them, but when you pull the slack out it's like the wraps don't pull back very much--it's weird. Also, not that comfort matters, but they are very abrasive. But if you are competing with wraps, they should be uncomfortable, so that's not really a big deal.
I don't see how all these IPF lifters are using them... they seem not very good for the general IPF style of squatting (quick descent, deep, rebound out of the hole, relatively narrow stance).
In general I'm always a fan of Titan equipment, but I really didn't like these,637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.

I think you address the right point. They are pretty damn hard to crank them down, but if you can, they're pretty good.
I've used nearly all Titan and Inzer wraps and liked THP the most. Now I've trained once with tight gold's I'm not sure which are better.
The gold's really demand a fast descent I think, otherwise they block/hurt too much. If you wrap them kinda loose they really suck.
But considering the IPF guys: Russians, Ukrainians and Polish coaches really wrap crazy tight. It's very funny to see the expressions on heavyweight lifters' faces while their getting wrapped.1890 ipf meet total

Yes, I've scoured Youtube for videos of Eastern European guys wrapping knees, and have gotten pretty decent at it. I've gotten a bit of notoriety for it because no one knows how to wrap here. At the last meet I was at, this single-ply guy got me to wrap him in Signature Golds on his third squat. I cranked them VERY tight... my forearms were so pumped I almost lost it at the end. To be honest I was almost worried I wrapped him too tight--I've done this to a few guys and they couldn't even descend. But he hit a big PR, so I felt good about my wrapping job. I'd recommend these wraps to anyone who wants massive forearms.

Norwegians all use Z's because they're very stretchy. They don't roll the wraps before wrapping either.
There were some big lifters like Castillo, Lebedko and Bilyi with gold's and at Europeans I remember there were a lot of top lifters wearing them.
The guys you mention have been lifting with Z's forever and will most likely not change.1890 ipf meet total

Havent used grippers much, but I think the Z's are a lot more stretchy. They are thinner and you can nearly tear them apart. I don't like them at all, because I like the hard feeling of wraps like THP and Golds (and grippers as far as I can say). But for me personally it doesn't matter a lot which wrap I use, as long as they're very tight. Just a preference for THP at the moment.
I also think Gold's are too hard to wrap without rolling them. With thp's it's much easier.1890 ipf meet total

I see. They sound like they are probably similar to Titan RPMs, so I might like them. The RPMs are very stretchy and thin.
I also agree, however, that the performance I've had with wraps hasn't really differed much from wrap to wrap. As long as I get them the right tightness, I get about the same out of them.
I'd agree that Gold's need to be rolled up really tightly in order to wrap them, and when I was wrapping that guy in Gold's I did have them wrapped beforehand.637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.

I'd go iron z's over RPMs any day personally. They're a little stiffer than the RPMs, but still way stretchier than the likes of THPs. The grippers are similar to iron zs but aren't so fun for us guys with hairy legs.
As far as the golds go, I like the wrist wraps, but the knee wraps I just can't get tight enough when I wrap myself.Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=134647881
