Not going through this all long-ass thread, but any of you seen Lake Mungo? IMO it's creepy as hell. Just in your skin the whole time.

Saw the Black Phone 4/5 - Very interesting and creepy. Not the scariest thing in the world but the story was pretty original and definitely had some jump scares and creepy moments.
NOPE - 1.5/5 - Nope. Boring, disjointed story that made zero sense.Early AM workout crew.
Holy crap dude, Satan's huge crew.

Hatching (2022) - I rented this off Amazon Prime. I've seen a lot worse. I'd say this is a 6/10. Had a real creepy vibe, but not really horror. The plot was very unique. CGI could have been better, but it was a low budget film, so I would expect this.
Probably wouldn't pay 4.99 to rent it in hindsight, but worth a watch if you can see it free.6'1 - 240lbs

Saw 'Day Shift' with Jamie Foxx last night. More of a comedy/action horror than anything which is meant to be scary.
The highlight was that house raid with my boy Scott Adkins.
Not great but a good bit of fun. Was less 'woke' than I was expecting, which was a bonus."Honor is something that all men are born with. It cannot be taken from you nor can it be granted. It must only not be lost."

I binge watched the new Netflix Series "Devil in Ohio". Hard time rating this....it kept my attention for the whole series, but mostly because I wanted to see the climax. After completing I'd say it's probably a 5/10. I think this would have been better as a movie, and not a series. There was a lot of garbage time stuff, and the typical Netflix diversity castings. Felt the series did not focus enough on the antagonist group until 1/2 of the last episode.
Thought it had a lot of potential after Episode 1, but just drug on too long and many parts were just not relevant to the plot.6'1 - 240lbs

I quite enjoyed this but it wasn’t exactly a thrilling watch. I felt a little disappointed with the end too. I felt like there were things they could have easily added throughout to tie it all together better.
Nearly finished Dahmer. I think it’s really well done.
Did anyone ever watch “quicksilver highway”? I suddenly remembered watching it as a kid and it was probably one of the silliest horrors I remember. Wondering if anyone has watched it more recently…

Terrifier 2 - 9/10
This film is simply a horror nerds wet dream, it's slashing for slashing's sake but in the best way possible the SFX work is amazing, and even though the plot is fairly linear and there's not a lot of backstory you truly are invested in the characters and feel bad when some of them get killed. The film is a staggering 2 1/2 hours but it never gets dull which is impressive for such a gory film. Damien Leone knocked it out of the park, the only slight criticism I would state is that we still don't know very much about Art the Clown but in my book he's up there with all the giants of horror like Jason, Michael Myers, Freddy, ETC.
Speaking of Freddy there's a cool dream sequence and ton's of obscure references to horror films of yesterday. No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

I liked the cenobites, and some of the exposition into the lore of the Lament Configuration, but I was not invested in the main protagonist at all. As a LEO I've met people like that in real life and they're just useless people lol. I mean the actress herself I don't have a problem with, but I didn't really resonate with her character's struggle probably poor writing I suppose, but I'd be interested to see a sequel in this new universe. Jamie Clayton plays a good Hell Priest.

I was really disappointed. It maybe beats the Hellraiser with that stupid computer game/mech theme but outside of that every single one beat it with character development, writing and atmosphere. I actually wanted all the main characters to get dragged into hell they were that bland, boring with no redeeming qualities to feel attached to them because there was no real story or anything delving into their sins or desires. The cenobites just stood there the whole time and the CGI/plastic look didn't even come off a visceral.
There were two things/aspects of the movie I thought was amazing which I'll mention in the spoiler. Anyway I see this film not even as a proper remake, more like a fanmade version. It shows.
Rating 4/10. See it once just because you feel compelled since it bears the franchise mark but never watch it again - unlike other Hellraisers which I've rewatched multiple times.

Smile (2022) - 8/10
Saw this in theaters, highly recommend. While not a completely original story. The movie follows a protagonist who’s fallen prey to a curse of sorts and spend the film trying to rid herself of it. A story told many times over, but with a clever twist ending. The sound design was genuinely unnerving, there’s use of darkness and empty space that leaves you in anticipation of the scare sequences but the film still manages to catch you off guard even when you know a scare is coming. The ending will leave some frustrated but I enjoyed the direction it went in without spoiling it for you guys.No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session.
