Do bodybuilders hold more water than average people ?

Hi guys, I think a lot of you here have experienced that extreme weight fluctuations (water) within a couple of days. Does the body develop any certain mechanism of water retention while under the stress of working out and carb/sodium manipulation diets (let's say before and after a contest) ?

Not really, they store more water because muscles are 70%+ water, and they have more muscles.

Bodybuilder or not, the body seeks balance. Restricting water, sodium, or depleting/loading carbs upsets that balance and may cause temporary reactions as the body seeks to regain balance.
As Devils pointed out....bodybuilders have above average lean mass and thus the capability of storing more glycogen (...and the accompanying water) and may see large transient weight fluctuations.
