Machida vs Hendo (spoilers)
Apparently the fans aren't the only ones who can't stand Lyoto's bitch ass running. I hope he doesn't get the title shot.

The fight was a complete joke. It should have been called a No Contest because neither guy deserved the win.

I can't say that I liked the fight but I don't know why anyone would have expected it to go any differently. Aside from flash knockouts from well timed striking, that's pretty much the norm for any fight featuring a counterpuncher. Machida did pull off that sweet sweep in round one and dominated round three. I had it 29-28 Machida.

dont play games with me
I like the part where everyone in the entire universe, including Dan Henderson, knew just what kind of elusive tactics Machida would bring to the table..... but Dan did nothing to take Lyoto out of his game.
Lyoto is somewhat of a one trick pony in that regards, its not like Dan didn't know this was how the fight was going to go.
Strong lack of game plan, Hendo.

Thanks, Obama!
Anyone training for Macheetah should just train by running behind a pickup truck with someone sitting on the back holding pads/mitts for them.
Every now and then someone else could just jump off the back for the takedown and lay on them for a minute.
Rinse and repeat for 3 to 5 five minute rounds.
Profit.

Sadly, I have to agree.
It's no secret on how Machida approaches fights...just like it's no big surprise that Hendo was just going to come out, stalk and hope to land a big right.
Not sure how anyone is surprised this is how it went down or would have expected anything else, especially when Hendo didn't try and do anything different to get Machida off of his game (aside from throwing more leg kicks).
Was hoping Hendo would either pull something out of his hat or land that big punch but I wasn't shocked that it was a 3 round "display of footwork by Machida".

So he's the number one contender now? I don't see how the ufc could sell a 2nd fight. He next fight with Jones won't be any different than the first.

I don't see how anyone could judge it for Hendo. Just because it isn't exciting doesn't mean it automatically goes to the fan favourite.

Naw. He'll fight Gusty for #1. Mark my words. The UFC can't sell a rematch yet, but a Gusty win makes the case for him being the real contender, and a Machida win gives him two top ten victories since the 1st title fight.
EDIT:
Forgot that Gusty is already booked for Gegard. Machida will get winner of that fight. Mark it.

Sorry but that's how sports can and should work. If you're winning and beating the best competition, it should propel you/your team up the rankings and increase your chance at a championship. Doesn't matter if you're boring.

Lol strong nut hugging. He didn't do plenty of damage. There's no need to pretend the fight didn't suck.

Didn't he say Gustafsson would get the next title shot if he won his next fight just a couple of weeks ago?

I don't think he said it didn't suck.
It was a little boring. But Machida clearly won.

Except that it's also a business and the business model depends on the UFC putting out fights people actually want to see.
Running away from Henderson's right hand for three rounds and barely eking out a victory over isn't the way to build up excitement for a rematch.
If Gustafsson wins in impressive fashion, I would not be at all shocked if he leapfrogs Machida for the title shot.

Machida did what Machida does but the fight did suck. He was more hesitant to throw than usual but I guess I can't blame him facing Hendo's chin and power. At least if he gets the Jones fight he won't be able to avoid him that much due to Jones' reach.

It wasn't clear. There's a reason it was a split decision, so little landed it was a very close fight. Machida won the first round, the second round could have gone either way, and Henderson won the third.

It wasn't a blowout but machida clearly won. The judge who scored it for Henderosn was probably Cecil Peoples.
And in response to your other post, machida just beat the ufcs top ranked contender. Idc if it was boring, he's now the number one contender, he earned the shot. I honestly wouldn't mind Gus vs Machida if Gus beats Mousasi though. But to deny someone a title shot because they're "boring" isn't good for the sport.

Strong lack of game plan, Hendo.
I was really hoping Hendo would employ the Shogun gameplan and just bum rush Lyoto. That's the only way to really fck up his timing and knock him out. He had the chin to do it too, not sure why he didn't just run after him until something landed.

Not sure I ever seen a high level fight like this where 60 secs would pass and nothing would happen by stand infront of each other and machedia waving his hands in a circle.

The fight wasn't THAT boring jesus christ, they were throwing leather and being smart. Either guy could have been knocked out very easily, yall just mad cause you don't understand what was really happening. Besides, it was Hendo who wasn't opening up, homie looked stiff as fux. Big fan of Hendo and he was really tryin but he was just too slow and awkward.

To be honest the fight was one of the most boring fights I've seen, but why is everyone putting the blame on Machida? He has fought like that since he came to the UFC, they act all shocked, the shock came when Hendo didn't even try and press the action which is what he should have done, we all know Machida will not fight out of his style, so the onus is on /Hendo to apply pressure. I think Hendo is shot, he couldn't pull the trigger. Other fighters were able to beat Lyoto, but Hendo couldn't even land a punch. People are forgetting that Hendo was actually backing up in the last round as Lyoto was feinting him, Hendo was really gunshy, this was not the normal Hendo we are used to seeing, he looked like he was scared to get hit when he is not known for being scared to get hit like his war with Shogun.
I think that war really took its toll on Dan and that is why he was shy with his hands and pressure, maybe trying to prolong his career and avoid taking punishment? but his entire strategy was to try and land that big right hand and it was funny watching Dan throw those weak funny looking old man kicks where he could barely lift his legs up.

Strong lack of game plan, Hendo.
1. Lately Machida had been much less boring and had changed from a track star to a fighter.
2. Dan's game plan was to slow his running down with leg kicks.. obviously that didn't work as he continued running more than ever.
3. In the 3rd Dan quit chasing him and all Machida did was stand there, flapping his arms and hands around like he was trying to fly. I haven't seen a worse display of fear and cowardliness to engage since Kaleb Starnes.
