    Start doing double overhand deads?

I've always done alternate grip but after seeing several videos of bicep tears its scaring me a little bit. Do these tears happen from poor form or is it just from the weight?? I did some searching on YouTube and most of the guys I saw pulling a shiit ton of weight were using double overhand. What are your thoughts on this?

Biceps tears happens because of poor form, if your elbows are bent when you start to lift heavy that can happen.

If you are not looking to compete. Just go with double overhand and straps.

Most of the videos online show guys using a hook grip, not just a regular double overhand grip. I tried it and it feels terrible, but it's what a lot of lifters use. I'm also changing to double overhand grip for my next session so let me know how you get on with it. What are you deadlifting?

there's literally no point going mixed grip unless 1 - you compete as a PL or 2 - you're concerned that a 155lb miscer might not think you're 'hardcore'

tears come from overtraining trauma weakening the tendon and a sudden load transfer when it's in it's most vulnerable position. never cheat at any back or arm exercises and you're highly unlikely to break down the tendon to the point it's susceptible to tearing

You'd likely be fine with proper form (straight arms), but doh or hook grip eliminates that particular risk, which is why I've moved to a hook grip.

use double overhand until you can't anymore then go to straps or over/under.

or use straps all the time if you'd like. (as long as you aren't competing)

    or try hook grip

If you can do double overhand at whatever weight you're working with, why not? I love torturing my forearms during DLs... just watch the sweaty palms.
