    squat help

i seem to have a really hard time keeping my heels down when i squat. Im pushing from my toes half the time, and its causing me to lean my chest forward instead of upright. Does this mean i lack flexibility in my ankles? Is this corrected by emphasizing calf stretching?

It's hard to tell without a video or something but if you're like most people you probably have problems with hip mobility and yeah potentially ankles too.

Possibly. It also might be a matter of not thinking enough about keeping your chest up.

Heels coming off the floor generally indicates a lack of flexibility.

Here's a way to fix it:

You can still post the link to a vid; just leave a space in it somewhere, or otherwise 'break' the link and then post it ITT.

Reduce the weight you are using to squat with until your form is corrected. You can also try squatting on the smith machine as it provides you with a fixed motion nearly forcing you to keep your heels down. Please note that you should NOT use the smith machine as a replacement for BB squats. Only use it as a form correcting tool. You can also try squatting with very light DB watching yourself in the mirror. One more technique you might want to try is doing squats on a yoga or foam mat, again keeping a watchful eye on form. Quality over quantity OP.
