Logging 3Z by AI Sports Nutrition

First off, I would like to thank jiggamanbill and AI Sports Nutrition for giving me the opportunity to log this product.

    Highlights of 3Z

    Helps you fall asleep faster
    Enhances natural GABA release
    Reduces Anxiety
    Helps you sleep deeper
    Reduces restless leg syndrome
    Decreases interruptions in sleep
    Optimizes night time hormone release
    Eliminates mineral deficiencies
    Increases growth hormone levels

Why am I interested in logging 3z?

I have had trouble sleeping for a few years now and I have tried literally every over the counter product as well as one prescribed sleeping product. The prescribed sleeping pill worked the best, however, the side effects were not worth it. The other products either just did not work, or would only work for about a week and then not again. Melatonin is the product that I would say has worked best so far in all aspects, however, I tend to wake up feeling groggy and not refreshed.

    Plans for this log:

-For the first week I will take just as the bottle says. 3 a night before bedtime.
-During the 2nd week I will also on certain days add melatonin to the mix to see if it adds any improvement at all
-On the 3rd week I will skip a day or two and see how my sleep is now affected if I do NOT take the supplement.
-On the 4th week I will go back to normal, taking it how the bottle says exactly.

I plan to see how many of the 3z advertised goals work for me as well as if my body builds up a quick tolerance to the product or not and if so, how much a break I would need to have the product work again without upping the dosage (reason for skipping a couple of days in week 3)

I will be starting this tonight Monday, January 28, 2013. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post here. I plan on updating this log a couple times a week as it isnt a workout product, I feel it would become redundant to update everyday.

I think skipping the dosing and playing with melatonin sounds like a good idea. esp skipping dosing then coming back to it

Thanks, Ill give it a shot like this.

Alright so this is what I have so far:

    Day One

I could feel about a half hour after taking it that I started to get tired, but I still had about 30 minutes left of a show that I was watching. I wasn't sure how this product would work, so it seemed like the perfect time to test this anyway. I continued to watch the show, but by fighting the tiredness early on, the effect kind of went away and I ended up not falling asleep until a couple hours later. So 'Note To Self' don't fight the urge to sleep, best to know that early on. However, I did seem to have a more restful sleep than I normally do and waking up was easier.

    Day Two

I took the 3z and after about twenty minutes I turned off my TV in anticipation for the tired effect to kick in. Sure enough, after about 10-20 minutes (wasn't looking at a clock) I began to get really tired and was yawning a lot for a few minutes. Not exactly sure when I fell asleep but it felt like only another 15 minutes or so after getting tired. I didn't wake up at all during the night and had a solid 7 or 7 1/2 hours of sleep. Woke up feeling refreshed.

    Day Three

The same as Day Two. The only difference I would note is that I had VERY vivid dreams, which to me is always a bonus. For anyone that has taken melatonin and experienced those added vivid dreams before, they were really similar to that.

So all in all, this product is working so far. Just have to remember to GO TO BED and turn everything off either before the tiredness hits, or right as it hits. It is not like a prescribed sleeping medication where you can fight the urge to sleep and it will still try to knock you out. You have to actually try to sleep. Excited to see how 3z works for the remainder of the log.

Edit - ^ To Pack22s....Don't worry, I am all set on the good pillows. Have a couple of those really expensive memory foam ones that are usually 100$ a piece, but I was able to pick them up for 30$/piece. Really expensive for some, but WELL worth it for someone like me.

Very vivid dreams is what most people report back after taking 3z. You wont believe all the weird, funny dreams people have lol

Sorry, ended up staying out of town another day so I will post the updated log tonight when I am back. It won't be day by day as that would just be too repetitive, but it will still be detailed.

Alright, so one Week 2, I said I was going to, on certain days, add melatonin into the mix with the 3z before bed time.

Week 2, day 1 with melatonin

On the first night, I took 1 5mg capsule of melatonin along with the 3 tablets of 3z. After about 30-45 minutes I became extremely tired and turned off my tv, rolled over and went to bed. I slept for roughly 8 hours and had even more intense dreams than if I just took 3z alone. I did wake up a little groggy, however, which is something I did NOT experience with the 3z...but after being up about an hour, I great and full of energy.

Week 2, Day 2, no melatonin
The next night, I decided to just go back to taking the 3 tablets of 3z before bedtime. Results were the same as the first week. Became tired about 30-45 minutes after, but like I said, you have to WANT to fall asleep. I slept for roughly 7 hours and woke up feeling fine with no grogginess. It was reassuring that my body hasn't built up a tolerance to the 3z, at least not yet.

Week 2, Days 3-5, with melatonin
For the next few nights, I decided to take melatonin again with the 3z. The 3rd and 5th nights with 1 5mg capsule and the 4th night with 2 5mg capsules. The results for the 3rd and 5th night were the same as my first night taking the melatonin. I become more tired which made it easier to fall asleep, but woke up a little groggy....still not nearly as groggy as I would be if I did not take the 3z. On the night that I took 10mg of melatonin, I passed out no problems, but had a really hard time waking up.

The next couple of nights I went back to just the 3z, with results staying on average. For me, the little bit of grogginess that I experience with the 5mg of melatonin isn't enough to make me NOT want to add it in as I did feel like I had a bit better sleep once that grogginess went away. For anyone wanting to try this, it would really depend on your preference and how hard of a time you actually have sleeping. I think that if I had bought the 3mg tablets of melatonin, it would probably be the perfect mix.

I will update this log again in 5-7 days. This week I am going to be skipping a couple of days and not take the 3z at all to see how I will react to going off the supplement and may also take 4 capsules on a night or two at the end of the week just for experimental purposes.

how are you gauging how well the nights sleep went?

are you writing it down when you first get up? ARE YOU JUST GOING FROM MEMORY?

I have a file in notepad that I open up and write a few sentences about the sleep within an hour of waking up and then if need be, I make side notes during the day after being awake a few hours. Examples being if I woke up feeling refreshed and full of energy, but then after being awake a few hours I start to feel drowsy/basically on autopilot. Or vice versa..just making little notes here and there and then I will take the weeks worth and make my updated posts.

I don't gauge the sleep on a scale of 1-10 or anything as it would be pretty impossible to do, but I am just making the notes and writing down differences that I notice the best I can. Without ever taking 3z I would either have really crappy sleep where I was drowsy throughout the whole day or I would take high doses of melatonin or nyquil, ect and USUALLY get a lot of sleep but wake up really groggy. The reason for skipping certain days or adding melatonin, ect ect is to make sure it isn't a placebo effect or anything.

I feel this was the best way to do it instead of updating every day or two with quick sentences about how the sleep went, ect. I am definitely not just writing it all from memory on the day I do the update.

Getting ready to go to bed now and I set a reminder on my google calendar to make sure I do my Update from the 3rd week on it where I skipped a couple of days to see if continued use would be necessary after being on a decent sleep schedule from the product.

Sorry if this post ran on/became kind of confusing...literally about to post this and then lights out.

Alright, I was going over the notes for the 3rd week and A LOT of the stuff is redundant to post due to the sleep being the same so this update will be shorter.

Week 3 - Go back to normal 3z use, but skip a couple of days during the week

    Day 1

I took the 3z like normal 30 minutes before going to bed. Had some really crazy dream this night lol. Seriously didn't even make sense and there were people in it that I have not seen or talked to in over 10 years, some I had never talked to but still knew. During the second week I actually started keeping a dream journal that I write it when I wake up if I remember them just because they are pretty funny to look at and I write in my free time, so who know when I may use some of these stories.

    Day 2 - NO 3z

I skipped the 3z on this night, and also the next night to see if I was able to get to sleep easy still or not. I turned off my tv at roughly the same time I had been going to bed every night lately. I didn't have too much trouble falling asleep, but I was probably rolling/adjusting myself for a good hour before finally falling asleep. I woke up once throughout the night, but fell back asleep pretty easy. Woke up with a huge headache (probably nothing to do with not taking the 3z, but just noted it anyway) Was still really tired when I woke up and it was hard to get out of bed...probably hit snooze on my alarm 5 times lol.

    Day 3 - NO 3z

I chose to skip 2 days in a row. Again, I tried to fall asleep at roughly the same time, turned off everything in my room so I wouldn't have distractions. I couldn't fall asleep at all. Probably took about 2 1/2 hours and when I finally did fall asleep, I woke up 3 times (that I can remember) throughout the night. This is 'normal' for me before I had ever taken 3z, so anyone reading this don't get offput by that. Needless to say, I was tired throughout the whole day and my workout showed it.

    Days 4-7, back on 3z

I jumped back on the normal 3z doseage and my results went back to where they were when I have been on 3z: Tired, but still have to try to fall asleep, takes about 45 minutes to hit for me, insane dreams and waking up feeling more refreshed. I know in my OP I said on the 4th week I would go back to 3z by the reccomended dosage, however, since I have a couple extra capsules from the skip days I think on one of these last days I will up the dosage to 4 or 5 for that night just to experiment with it.

Since I am on the final week now, I think it is safe for me to say that 3z will definitely be something I add to my daily routine and the only bad thing about it is that I now know that it works and I will have to go two months without it while at basic training lol.

That's all for now, will do my final thoughts/update in about a week.

Yea, I take notes for almost everything that could have notes taken on. I have a really good memory, but there have been a few times in the past few years where I forgot some really important things that I should have remembered so now it is just second nature. So I guess we both learned from our own mistakes haha
