Just FYI, just because we're female doesn't mean that we like the same things, regardless of where we're located. We're all separate people, which is why these threads are ridiculous. No one knows your gf or what she likes.

To put the above statement in perspective, think of all the other guys you've met in your life. Depending on who they are, the perfect gift could be any of these things:
a gun
a chemistry set
star wars memorabilia
super bowl tickets
a gas bbq grill
a compilation book of Edgar Allan Poe's poems and short stories
tickets to a medieval faire
a beer brewing kit..

etc.

And chances are that if one of theses things would make the perfect gift for him, one or two of the other ones might be OK gifts while the rest would be horrible gifts. That's basically what the quote above is saying.
