I cut from 192 to 176.5... Calipers put me at about 18.5% and ~34# of fat when I began. I finally took a reading today after a few months and I cant get over 10% of I try to get the biggest skin folds I can. I still have some belly fat and cant really see any definition in my stomach unless I flex. I feel like I've cut down to a skinny fat body type. Thats kinda what I expected. I;m supposedly 157# LBM and 19# fat. I thought I'd look thinner at ~10%.
Is this really 10%?
I probably shoulda bulked in the first place, but, I cut to feel better about myself. I'm guessing I should definitely be bulking now if I'm really 10%.

if anything has surprised me so far in my work, it's the complete disassociation between IQ and "exercise intelligence"

yea your closer to 14 15%. But i would suggest a slow lean bulk for a couple months then continue the cut.

There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there. - Patrick Bateman

srs?
I really don't see how a 7 spot check on calipers could be that far off. There was no more fat to grasp. I didn't skew the results.

Abdominal=15
Thigh=14
Tricep=5
Subscapular=10
Suprailiac=11
Midaxillary=8
I tested multiple times and looked for as much fat as possible and used the highest numbers I recorded. I believe 12-14 sounds about right. I guess I'll cut for just a couple more weeks to get to Lyle's suggested 12% range.Last edited by ASTRONOMICAL; 02-19-2013 at 09:47 PM.

That is not 17%. Unfortunately, the callipers can be as off as some of the estimations you will receive in this forum.
That is certainly not 10% body fat. You seem to have a great deal of faith in callipers but you need to appreciate they are a rough guide with most formulas having a large margin of error. Callipers make inherent assumptions based on body types.
I would say you are around 13-14%.

Plastic calipers done by someone else. It was on a rest day. I guess I'll just trust the mirror. Thanks for all the help, everyone. I'm gonna do one more 5 week cycle while at a deficit, then I'll transition.

You're not 10% no, but you've made a great improvement in my opinion... I myself am cutting as well so that I can go on a nice long clean bulk without gaining too much fat in the process. I'd say your pretty damn close though and you look a lot healthier than you did at first. May your bulk be glorious!
PS: Abs can show at many different bodyfat percentages... Some are visible (not ripped of course) @ 15% bodyfat and others need to go as low as 8-9% to really get them to pop up clearly when not fully trained.
