UFC/MMA is straight retarded to bet on anyways. With those little gloves and all the good fighters with no video/tape it is extremely hard to pick a winner unless you are connected in the industry. It's insane how many "underdogs" win in these big ufc events. Very rarely do the 'favorites' win more then 70% of the fights on a card. Not to mention the UFC hype machine drastically overrates their fighters. It's lolsy imagining all the money was lost betting on that bum Overeem. Also, to help out the guy with the "+500 what will that pay?" Question...

Essentially it's the odds a + means the pay out will be MORE than you risk, a - means the pay out will be LESS than you risk. Also it gives you the payout. For instance:

+500 means $100 bet would pay $500 (Thus, Sonnen is a "five to one underdog." You'll literally get paid 5x what you risk IF Sonnen can win) Thus, conversely Jones is a "five to one favorite." This means to WIN $100 from betting on Jones, you'd have to RISK $500.

Bet $10 on +230 a win = $23
Bet $5 on a +400 a win = $20
Bet $10 on a -250 a win = $4

...just look at the bet slip before you hit confirm. But, that's essentially how it works.

american express = charge card

They don't let you keep a balance and just make minimum payments, whatever you spend on the card has to be paid in full before your next billing cycle. He wouldn't be able to charge that much unless he had a strong record of payment history with american express or had enough cash in the bank to satisfy the risk management team at amex.
