How is taking a carb supp going to effect my body?

I just bought a 6.6 pound tub of Glyco-Maize from Optimum Nutrition. The directions say to add it to my post-workout shake but I'm curious how this is going to change my body of the next year or so if I continue taking it. I'm prepping for a physique competition in August.

IT's just a carb supplement. Digestion rates aside, it'll effect your body like any other carb containing food would.

How would eating rice "change my body of the next year or so if I continue taking it"? Looking at single foods in isolation is myopic and it shows you don't grasp even basic nutritional knowledge. How it would "change my body of the next year or so if I continue taking it" would depend on how much you use fits into your OVERALL daily intake of calories, macros and micros.

why would you purchase a carb supplement?

the best carb supplements can be found in the bread and pasta section at your local grocery store
Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world theyve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. Its an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. Its a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Went from 227LB -179LB, chiseling in progress....

Okay obviously I didn't phrase this correctly. My level of nutritional knowledge is just fine and I understand my cals and macros, I'm not a moron. Thanks for the attitude tho.

After these replies I think my questions are more about the product and less about how it's going to effect me.

I'm sorta following Steve Cook's mass building nutritional plan and apparently he took Waxy Maize post-lift along with his protein. I was also recommended this by a few trainers at my gym. But no one can seem to give me a straight answer as to why it's apparently such great addition to my diet.

Postworkout carbs are not necessary, unless you're doing excessive lengths of training which would deplete glycogen stores.

Post workout carbs are unnecessary unless you are an endurance athlete. Post workout protein is all that's needed for protein synthesis and unless you train endurance or fasted(still isn't likely) you won't deplete your glycogen stores.

IMO carb products are a waste of money. Just eat food, a sandwich or some veggies and get in your carbs. Use that money to improve your actual diet or on a product that will help you in the gym.
