What do you think about while trying to fall asleep?

Dogs/puppy ears, hypothetical situations, murdering people I dont like and fantasizing about how I would get rid of the body... Among other things, sometimes I worry/stress about uni exams and the future etc..

I fantasize about different women with my eyes closed, and then hope that I'll have a dream about them.

Run through countless zombie apocalypse scenarios in my head. Its like Im living in The Walking Dead by the time i fall asleep.

i think about my oneitis and fantasize that i'm sleeping on my deathbed

I had big issues falling asleep only a couple of months ago - What helped me was this:

- Wake up at the same time every day
- Do enough physical activity throughout the day so you get tired
- Be emotionally clean, i.e don't have disturbances in your life that is clogging your brain at night

The last point is obviously not always easy to fulfill, but I think its the biggest one.

I seriously think about what I would do if there was a zombie apocalypse. I have my safe house and everything planned out. Who I would kill in my group if they were a threat. Idk why but it makes me sleep

I find if i dwell on things from real life or think about anything like that i just never sleep. i only get into 'sleep mode' when i start story telling in my head, like some other posters here. often i will have a 'scene' that i play out over and over again every night, sometimes months, or less, than i create a new one. for a long time my scene was that i was called into the army and had to go to the planet strogg from quake and infiltrate the base to shut down their planet defense gun. every night i would play this scene in my head of how i was called up, getting to the planet, crash landing alone and having to sneak into the base etc. srs before i knew it i was asleep.. other scenes i've had include gathering a rebel army to take over the city and how i would do it, the perfect murder how to hunt someone down and hide the body etc and go through it in my head, the city being nuked and a post apocalyptic warzone etc. literally onyl way i can fall asleep if i start these 'stories', if i think about my day or the next day or anything i just lie awake for hours

I think you would find a lot of guys think about this, less weird than you might think. There's something comforting about knowing exactly what you would do when sh*t hit the fan.
