skinny guys... whatd you gain in the first 6 months-year of lifting?

just what the thread says? im trying to keep myself on par with some other "hard gainers" around here and would like to know what kind of weight i should aim for to be bulking at a good pace.

i put on ridiculous weight the first 2 months but its slowed down quite a bit im still doing pretty good, having put on 27 lbs in about 3-4 months.
I woke up this morning still breathing. Might as well take advantage of it.

    Hey mrc19888,

I gained 5lbs in my first six months to a year phase. I guess you can call it the newbie gain. I think a pound a month is pretty descent. By the end of the year, you could have a solid 10-12 lbs of quality muscle.

You probably slowed down gaining weight because there's something wrong with your diet. Try to monitor that you get more calories than you burn as well as hit your protein, carb, and fats. You don't normally gain weight from lifting but from the diet considering the training.

A pound a month is pretty realistic in my opinion.

i have heard before a lb a month of pure muscle is a good goal to attempt to hit. my confusion is how can you be sure youre doing everything right if the gains come that slow? im packing on what im sure is a crapload of fat but its nice to at least see something on my frame. im essentially doing a half dirty bulk and ill cut down the line because i at least like to stay motivated with a gain of about 1 lb per week. i mean i know guys that have gained 50-75 lbs in two years so obviously a lot of that is fat but they look great. thats more along the lines of where id like to be.

im at about 3 months in right now and would like to start slowing cleaning up my diet. but my lifts are all getting stronger at a nice pace. im shocked at the patience and work it takes to build even a commendable gains.

    thanks for your response

ill hit 30 lbs gained if i keep at what im doing before 4 months is over. i still feel immensly skinny being about 155 and around 5'10". i hear people mention on here they lifted for like a year or so but "didnt know what they were doing" and "barely put on any weight at all". if i went a week and a half without the scale moving id freak the fu*k out. how can someone put in so much time in a gym and not gain any weight?

10kg gain in muscle by june is imposibru my friend. Unless you intend to take something that you shouldnt have. Since I first started (cca 9 years ago) I gained a total of 14 kg of muscle (58 to 72). Also keep in mind that I dont train legs much so there is some space left.

I never bulked cuz I dont believe in getting fat and than cutting back in order to gain muscle... I prefer looking good all the time + in my experience the results are the same or better at the end.

all these gains seem really high, im assuming you started lifitng during highschool or something and you were still growing vertically. 30 pounds of muscle is impossible to gain in 6 months unless ur on dat der cell tech and its still impressive

It has taken me nearly 3 years to put on weight. I started lifting around age 23 and I'm 26 now. I went from around 170 of pure fat to 205, still around 15 to 20% BF. Of course, I did have little mini cuts in between my heavy bulking periods. And at my height it doesn't even look like I lift.

Good genetics - You have them!!!! I put a tiny bit of muscle on but because of my extreme skinnyness, it showed up a lot. Probably spent 5 years not knowing wtf I was doing. Wish I did research and didn't listen to ill informed bro science douches at the gym. Thankfully, I now understand what is required!!!! Good job in your first few months!!!!

my first 6 months of working out I did so much wrong that I probably didn't do much for myself. In fact my first year was really just
getting use to it all and learning the basics.

i appreciate all the replies guys. ive noticed im going through extreme sways in weight but i can honestly say im holding pretty well above the 150 mark. which i know seems extremely thin but i started at about 127. so for my first 14 weeks of working out i dont think thats half bad! just gotta stay motivated to eat!
