I work with almost 45+ yr olds and 95% of them are divorced/unhappily married. The men are broken men, living in apartments because their ex got the house. Almost half of their paychecks go towards child support.
The women that are divorced on the other hand are sitting pretty because they got the house, got the kids and get extra money for child support.
Do NOT listen to the few "happily" married misc members that claim they're happily married for 1, 2, 5, even 10 years. They will end up just like the rest...they all do in the end...

Sometimes it's good to be selfish and not commit to something's like that
Also marriage is a broken institution...I'm only marrying someone richer than me"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet."
"You're all mistaken- I'm not locked in here with you...you're locked in here with me"

One minute I'm robbing a dope house. Next minute I'm the youngest heavyweight champion of the world. I'm only 20, 19, with a lot of money. Who am I? What am I? I don't even know who I am. I'm just a dumb child who's being abused and robbed by lawyers. I'm just a dumb pugnacious fool. I'm just a fool who thinks he's someone. Then you tell me I should be responsible?

My response to anyone who gets married in their 20s:
Marriage doesn't mean chit anymore. 50 years ago marriage was a lifetime commitment. People didn't throw it away, they fixed it instead. Getting so deep here, gonna endrant.

Gotta say, seeing my co-workers/friends go through a divorce is enough to dissuade me.

Sometimes I fee like remaining forever young and just sleeping around with different women with no commitments and stuff.

So what do you do? Even without marriage you live with a chick for 2 years you're common law and can still have to give her support and all that. Judges throw out prenups if they feel like it so they aren't worth much.

That's only if you marry a woman. If you marry another brah, think of the possibilities. Two incomes, no childrens or risk of pregnancy. You'll have some one to lift and talk about broscience with. Heck, you two might be able to share the same wardrobe and save even more. If you get divorced as long as your prenuptial is in tip top shape, you're golden.

Dude, that would vary depending on the state. Common-law marriage isn't a written law. Just don't sign the birth certificate if you aren't sure it's yours.
Damn I've been watching too much Maury. In a lot of states even if its not your biological child, if you sign the certificate you're liable for that child's welfare until they're adult age. Sucks but true.
I'm 30 and on my 2nd marriage. I've truly found my soulmate. The 1st time around was a mistake.

This, exactly. I always wanted to have the "happy family" I never got to have as a kid.... Then I started seeing the reality of life for married people and how bad it always ends up going and started rethinking things...
Then I started making really good money, looked into the actual laws, and decided for SURE I don't need to get married, especially in my state (The People's Republik of Kalifornia). Thanks but no thanks, I'll be keeping my assets and habits of dating whoever I want.
