How long does it take to go from Skinny to Muscular

I want to invest 3 hard years in bodybuilding minimum, i was wondering how long it would take to go from skinny such as myself to muscular like Ryan Reynolds, my stats are 17% BF and 176 pounds, also i understand that genetics plays a huge role but i want to set realistic goals

Train hard and get your diet nailed down. Because of the lighting and everything in that picture, it makes him look like he has more muscle mass than he really does. He just has a really low bodyfat. With hard work, you should be able to get a body like that within a year to a year and a half. Diet is very important in getting that low bodyfat.

Bodybuilding isn't a short term investment, it's a lifestyle and it doesn't sound as if you have the heart for it. It took me 8 years to the acquire the physique that I was looking for, and that was 16 years ago.

    this

people who set out the goal you have set WILL fail, you need to eat+train day in day out for years. Unless you love it you wont make it

edit: your goal pic is a weak goal, would take about 4 months

i completely agree with this, by three years i mean that i have more time before my career, etc. really kick in, i want the lifestyle, but i want to have goals of what body i want, WHEN I ACHIEVE this body ill continue with a new goal and eventually when the time comes after the many years, i wish to have jlsyndertyper physique but i need the motivation to see progress otherwise i will feel discouraged by my achievement.

I believe short term goals are the key for success, but you made it sound as if you wanted to quit once you acquired the desired physique.

If you have a good base with the right level of dedication, it's entirely possible to reach Ryan Reynolds status in just 2-4 years. However, without a picture, it's hard to honestly say from your limited stats, and what you may only assume to be 17% bf.

Trust me dude once you start seeing the tiniest results you're going to think you look like a God even when you're still dumb looking. It really is more about the journey to your "goal physique" rather than actually getting it. Once you start lifting and eating right you're going to gain a new found confidence in yourself and your life is going to change.

This thread makes me feel better. At age 40, I'm a little over 2 years into it, and I was beginning to think that I couldn't make it. Some people make it sound like a summer in the gym and eating right will do it, else you didn't try hard enough. I train very hard and have improved...just a ways to go still. I have the long term dedication to make it and will never go back.

That's the right idea. It all starts with the dedication and your goal. Every day you get closer. You might not see the results in one day but if you're in it for the long haul, it will happen. Keep it up.

You have to have that inner fire, don't lift for anyone but yourself. And when you do lift, train hard! Every time you step into that gym, give it your all. It boils down to how badly you want it.

Agree with faken204, lift for yourself, not your haters. Use other people that have a big influence in your life like family and what not and think of how impressed they will be with your changes.

Also, if you stick with it hard enough your family will definitely notice and hopefully they will soon start eating cleaner as well and changing their life for the better. You can be someone's inspiration.

He hasn't posted for 6 years.

But there is nothing unique about his goals. And there isn't even much detail in this thread.

You would be better off looking the workout programs journals section if you want examples of what real people are doing.
