If the person in top control is active and utilizing GnP. I enjoy wrestling in that regard, but just playing the role of a blanket can get old.
I agree.....
If a person doesn't acknowledge that wrestling is a KEY fundamental in MMA, you have alot to learn. Better start over from the beginning. If you have even the minute experience in wrestling, you'll know how important a takedown and top control is in a REAL fight. If you can take down your opponent, keep them down, and let your fists go, the fight could be over quick. Now you couple wrestling with another MMA, and it just continues to get stronger/better BUT wrestling should always be a core fundamental.

To be honest, TKD is more dangerous than Wrestling. Apparently you have never watched Olympic Level TKD. Go watch some Youtube clips and you'll see some BAD KO's......Most of the Olympic Wrestling ends in points.....nothing even close to a KO or broken bone, it's regulated very well.
People like to talk bad about TKD/Karate or other similar stand up MMA because it's not the token "BJJ" or "Sambo" or whatever is mainstream. MMA is JUST that........it's Mixed Martial Arts. To be a Champ, you have to be well rounded in various aspects of MMA.

TKD is more dangerous than Olympic Boxing too. It just doesn't really transfer well in MMA, but as a pure sport its pretty dangerous.

I agree but I also think TKD should not be eliminated from the Olympics either. I mean shyt, if you start eliminating sports because they're dangerous, well, you can consider some forms of T&F dangerous......cardiac arrest, etc.
TKD/Karate and those type of stand up MMA's play a small role in MMA because there's only a select few fighters that are GOOD and accurate. If/when you see a skilled MA that has a stand-up background and has pinpoint accuracy, they're VERY dangerous.

Oh I've watched it. I've watched 2 supposed "fighters" bounce to the same rhythm back and fourth for a whole fight, when one bounces forward the other guy bounces backwards. I saw an Olympic TKD guy sucker kick a referee in the face and wasn't even able to knock him down. I have also seen people break boards in the air. I'd bet on a wrestler over a TKD guy every time.
