Getting my first wrist wraps, advice?

Lately, i've been struggling to keep my wrists (mostly my left) straight while benching. It usually only happens when I'm hitting triples or lower. I thought it might be time to invest in some wrist wraps for the first time. What would y'all recommend? I have pretty small wrists, I only plan on using them during 3rep or lower sets, and only for barbel benching. Admittedly, I don't know much about the different types of wraps, so if anyone cares to enlighten me, please do!

    Thanks

Do you plan to compete? If so in what federation?

I have 12'' and 24'' RPM's which I really like. They stretch enough to be supportive. I've never worn a cast like wrist wrap but I imagine they are nice too. RPM or THP would get my vote. I love the grippers as knee wraps but I think they'd get annoying as **** as a wrist wrap and I'd be bleeding every session

Do those runners on the Grippers get shredded easily? Only issue I have with wraps like the THP, Iron-Z, Anaconda's etc. are those "gripper" bands as they tend to get shreaded up easily by the velcro. Another reason I love me some Convicts but lack of support and lack of available, and recent price hike I'm moving away from them. THPs are my current non-APT favorite.

Edited: Supposed to have been Grippers not RPM.

I don't know what that means but I've had 3 pairs of RPMs so far, they last about 9-12 months (~25 times wrapping myself up in them a week) before they are stretched out and useless

The one pair of APT's I've had the velcrow gave out in like 3 months

Anaconda's and THP and many brands have these running stripes used to help grip

The velcro eventually shreds them up faster then the rest of the wrap getting all fuzzy. I noticed the THP has gotten worse faster then the Anacondas. The Inzer-z held up fairly well. Mambas, the entire wrap is like that material and gets shredded up pretty quick.

I was just wondering how well the Grippers held up.

I have the 60cm super heavy wraps from EFS and really like them. Training partners have the normal and heavy wraps from EFS...they've all held up well. Might be worth a shot to look at EFS, especially when they're running a sale on their wraps...which is like every other week

edit: probably want to stay away from the red ones

It's kind of funny, a couple years back titan wrist wraps were considered the worst while APT was the best...now APT is kind of going downhill while the newly redesigned Titans work amazingly well.

I don't remember THPs ever getting terrible reviews besides their Velcro issues and that's been fixed. APTs are still great wraps and my favorite if only they were more available and supported by the IPF.

APT has way better wraps than Titan IMO. However, they are not IPF approved, and are now price gouging. If you can find them, I'd much rather wear APT strangulators or convicts than anything Titan/Inzer. Elite heavy/super heavies are also heavier than Titan or Inzer wraps, if you like the more cast like support. Also, Rhinos are kind of a good medium between cast and soft though still heavier than most Titan/Inzer offerings. I don't like Rhinos as knee wraps though. Recently I use 18" Rhinos up to about 365 on bench, then switch to my APT 2XH for heavier sets, and use the Rhinos for squatting and pretty much any other pressing movements.

Oh yeah and price is crazy. Supposedly Anderson's wraps are comparable to the convicts but haven't tried them. The Anaconda is pretty comparable to the Strangulators. I think only the Metal wraps are IPF approved and not the EFS wraps. I prefer the metals over the EFS wraps anyways.

The Anderson wraps are pretty damn awesome. The heavy ones are HEAVY. I'm talking serious cast.

And OP, just hope that you don't get two left handed wraps. Companies seem to mess this up quite a bit.

I love the grippers as knee wraps but I think they'd get annoying as **** as a wrist wrap and I'd be bleeding every session
I don't plan on competing within the next year or so, after that I may consider it. My main goal for the wraps is to just help keep my wrists straight. I fear that consistent bent wrists will lead to an injury eventually if I don't address the problem now. I feel like 24" wraps are going to be really long? However, I often hear people say 12's are to short. Which length would you recommend. I have pretty small wrists keep in mind. If I had a tape handy I would measure for you, but I don't...

Not sheriff srs? EFS has the ****tiest wraps I've ever used. The thumb loop shreds in a couple sessions and the Velcro rips off right after that. Total garbage wraps and a waste of time and money.

I have no complaints on my Titans. My 12" RPM's are just now dying and they are approx 1.5 years old.

Velcro and thumb loop is holding strong on my super heavies that are about a year old. I'm sure it's just an issue of how hard they're used. My wraps only get cranked down hard when I'm in my shirt and even then not to the point of my hands turning purple. Come to think of it, I believe one of our guys blowed up a set of the red wraps, but he was cranking the **** out of them for some heavy reverse band work in his shirt...something they're not really suited for. Small sample size and going pretty easy on them, so they may well be junk. Just sharing what my personal experience has been thus far. I'm really wanting some Titan THP's now though after reading this thread.

Their heavies may be better quality, but the red ones rip apart like no other.

Getting some wrist wraps as my wrists are tiny and it's starting to get annoying for benching as I progress. I literally know nothing about them so these might be really dumb questions but would appreciate any help:

    1. The federation for my first meet coming up (USPA) says: "A loop may be attached as an aid to securing. The loop shall not cover the thumb or fingers during the lift." What does this mean? Where would you attach the loop to secure if not on the thumb or is "covering the thumb" something different?

    2. It says I can use wrist wraps up to 1M in length. It looks like they're available in 12'', 18'', 24'', 30'', 36''. Any suggestions on what size makes the most sense?

    3. Do you guys use them for your pulls as well or just benching?

    Thanks again for any help.

I use 12'' for any squat under 500 and any bench under 400. They work just fine. Some people need 24's for every day lifting I don't see why. I've used 12's for my low bar close grip squat doing 78 reps with 430 (80% for me) over the course of a week while benching 3x that week too. I figure if my wrists didn't hurt during that then 12'' must be good enough for me.

First question just means you have to remove the loop before you lift. Not a big deal at all.
3 meters is pretty much 36 inches. If you aren't benching 900lbs you don't need 36''
Most people use them for squat and bench some people deadlift in them too
