I really hate my body & nothing I do to try to make it better works :/
I've been cutting since january and i've only lost about 6 lbs
I started keto on monday & everyones telling me that I'm stupid for starting it
I'm eating 1300 calories and everyones telling me i'm not in a deficit
I don't know what to do :/
I lift 4x a week and take spin classes at least 2 times, I try to run as much as I can (usually .5-1 mile warmup at 6mpg before I lift) but it messes with my calves and I try to do hiit
I have this abnormally large torso that just looks odd, skinny legs & no boobs ... i just hate it :/
last summer :
now:
not much of a difference :/

Personally, I see nothing wrong with your figure
I don't have any personal experience with Keto diet, but I found it hard to loose weight doing running 3x a week along with a clean, healthy diet. I started doing low resistance cycling (2x20min per day) and running (3x a week) and the weight is starting to drop off. Just keep at it, and you'll get your goalsLast edited by NateIsaac; 04-12-2012 at 06:58 AM.

This stuff doesn't happen over night, or even in a few months but I do notice a difference. You're already small so when you say "only" 6 lbs that's still a decent amount on your frame. As for your body shape goes I think you're smokin' hot. I'm not sure what this abnormally large torso thing is that you're talking about.
You're already at a pretty good weight so it seems to me like you're trying to just add some muscle and tighten up a little.
Try dropping the cardio portion of your routine and just lift for a month or two and see how that works out. If you're eating at a deficit AND doing a ton of cardio (running, HIIT, spinning, etc.) then you're burning alot of extra calories and if you're trying to get a more muscular figure then in my opinion you need those calories for preserving or even maybe building a little muscle if you're eating right."When you fall into a pit, you either die or get out."

seems to me like your one of those people who is scared of some pain. If you want to see PROGRESS, if you really want to see some change, then run till your gasping for air, lift till your muscles are screaming out pain, dont just stop when your uncomfortable, stop when your exhausted. If your not sweating like a pig your not doing it right. You see people in the gym or outside barely sweating or panting, their just doing it for the hell of it which is fine. but if your trying to look for change, its gonna take alot more dedication and pain than simply participating in exercises.

I'll try this.. usually lifting is really boring for me, i don't sweat unless i'm squatting or deadlifting and even then it's minimal sweat
I really need to find a routine that will challenge me. I just started really seriously lifting in january and i have made gains, all my lifts have doubled, but i'm still just not happy with how i look and it's really bringing me down :/

Don't worry, you're not alone. Once the weather picks up in the next few weeks you will be fully focused. Of course everybody compares themselves to "last summer" because thats when you were on top of your game! Just keep your head up and you'll see results rather quickly. You honestly don't have much to improve but its about what makes YOU happy.

If your not seeing any change in nearly 4 months and you have no motivation at all you might wanna consider a personal trainer. If you go for a personal trainer, take the scumbag and not some pussy who is trying to be friends. Or just quit trying though thats not even an option tbh

I started January first and have been doing it ever since then. This week and last week i've slowed down though . I feel like i'm in a plateau so I'm trying to get out of it by calming down a little bit. Last week I ate above maintence, and this week I started keto. I'm going to go back super strong next week and just hope I can get somewhere by summer

It sounds like you have body image issues. Your bodyfat % is a lot better than most of the population. Personally I think you should not try to lose more fat. You will end up looking like one of those groce anorexic things. Keep your calories where they are and lift heavy.
If you feel that a part of your body is legitimately lacking (eg. legs) the only way to improve them is to make them grow. Growing means eating a calorie surplus and smashing them in the gym. Perhaps don't worry about it so much this summer, bulk your legs up over winter. Having an awesome physique is a long term commitment.

4 months is nothing, seriously. i gained strength since january but i see nothing physical wise. maybe it's just in the head, but my nutrition teacher told me that seeing changes always lags behind feeling them. it takes time. i've been lifting for about 8 months and i should be the one doing the worrying! lol. i think i'm on a plateau as well... i'm changing my program next week anyway so i hope i see changes in my body... good luck to you!

then hate even more. I know that sounds really mean, but hate yourself to the point where you want that change so much you'll do anything it takes. I was anorexic at 19 years old weighing 117 pounds. Even worse being from an asian background i was that typical "nerdy asian bookworm" which isn't even close to my personality. One day i looked in the mirror and just started punching myself and just wrecking my body out of pure hatred. Ever since, i worked out so hard to the point i felt so much pain and thought thats what my body gets for being and a-hole. I have gone to the gym every. single. day. F** rest, F** laziness, pain is temporary but to even give up for one day will make me feel that loss forever. I mean you REALLY have to want that change, but in the end it'll be worth it. Now weighing at 140 and still going people look at me on a whole new perspective. Good quote from the hip hop preacher, " If you want success, your gonna have to want it so bad to the point that i'ts like air to you." G'luck bro-sis

the thing is I don't know what else to do.
Like I know I need to make my workouts more intense but I'm not really sure how to... and my diet.. I do the best I possibly can with it.
Sometimes I binge eat though just cuz i get so discouraged... but that's only happened maybe 2 times since january... this really sucks :/

op the entire misc rated you a 7-8 (strong misc standards)
although I saw your pancake azz, I have a solution. eat at a caloric surplus for a little while (just barely anything like maybe 200 cals)/do plenty of squats, deads and glute-ham raises. it'll make your legs and ass bigger, add more muscle which burns more cals for the future, and it'll help with your "big torso?"
also make sure you count the cals for EVERY SINGLE THING you put in your mouth, even gum. I've known a lot of people that ate more than they thought because they didn't measure right and didn't count saucesfor me, the hardest part about lifting weights is leaving the gym when my workout is finished. I keep checking my log book but it keeps telling me that it's the last set. even worse, tomorrow is rest day. fml

You've lost 6 pounds since January. It's been four months. Over a full year that's 24 total pounds if you keep going on your current route (from your pictures I garner that you don't need to lose anywhere close to 24 pounds). Be proud that you've actually made progress. Alot of individuals make NONE. Always strive for progress, NOT perfection. Try not to focus on points of your body that you personally view as "weak" or "bad". Take this time to decide if it's time to change something up. Maybe up the intensity, or find a program that you haven't tried in the past.
As for the keto, give it a shot for a few more weeks if you really want to try it. I've done the anabolic diet (sort of similar to keto) and although it worked to a degree, I COULD NOT MAKE IT A LIFESTYLE. You'll see weight loss, but most of it will be water. This is why people always get upset coming off keto because they think they get fat when they're just putting that lost water back into their bodies with the addition of a normal amount of carbs. If you can't see yourself being able to stick to something long-term (and stay sane) then don't even attempt it.

Do you have a goal?
The first thing I noticed after reading this thread, is I still don't even know really what you're after. Are you trying to cut to some specific body type? Look at your body, see what needs to be done, and then do it.
A lot of females on here get really soft advice, and it doesn't help them in the long run. A guy posts pictures of being skinny fat, having wide hips, skinny legs, etc. and gets torn a new *******, so to be polite as possible while still being helpful I can just say a couple of things.
You do have a wide-ish torso, and your legs don't have much muscle to them. It's not a terrible thing, it just changes what your goals and weak points are going to be. So with that in mind you have to accomplish something -- just aimlessly cutting isn't going to get you anywhere. Work on bulking slowly and building some quality mass on your frame, especially your legs. Once you get to a point where you feel like you have a good frame to cut to, then you'll be golden.
Again not trying to be harsh, but there's no point in these threads unless you get some help out of it right?
You don't have a bad body by any means, but think of your body as a sculpture, and then do what's necessary to change it. I don't think there's anyone on this site that can't look at their body and find something to improve.

I don't think you're stupid for starting keto. It worked fine for me, I lost a bucket load of chub. Then it's not for every body, it's very strict and you gotta have the self discipline to do it (self discipline applies to any type of weight loss / calorie counting).
A 6lb loss is good for your size. If you say you are on 1300kcal a day and training hard and not losing any weight then either you need to eat less, train harder or you're not counting your calories accurately enough. If you are 100% spot on with calories then you may need to either see a doctor regarding your inability to lose weight OR you may find that you need to have a good big refeed to get that metabolism stoked again (pig out for a couple days).
Start doing weight training if you don't already, having extra lean mass will raise your BMR and make weight loss easier.
As for hating your body: come on, I'm not gunna feed your ego, you have a nice body and have goals that need a bit of work.
Think of people that have serious body dysfigurements (amputees, skin growths etc) and just think how lucky you are. These people have serious image concerns and you're worried about a wide torso? Just some perspective for you."Ain't nothing to it but to do it"
