    Help with neck injury please.

Three weeks ago, while doing dips on a dips machine, I forced my neck too much to get the last rep, and I noticed a pain in the end of my left shoulder plate. The following days the pain continued to grow and extend to the neck, getting worse each night. One friend of mine that practices eastern medicine practices, removed the pain the neck with that technique jackie chan used on the new karate kid movie, and It seemed to work great, but a week ago, while returning to lift, I injured my self the same way when I arched my back to get the last rep on bench press. I went to the same guy again, did the same, but this time he was only able to remove a part of the pain, and again, each night when I go to sleep, it get worse, and today I'm almost in the same state I was before the treatment the second time.

The area of pain is the one colored in orange:

I also feel a lot of stiffness in the back of the neck, and pain between the traps when I lower my head.

Sometimes if I stay sit all day, it will move to the other side, but the next day after waking up is again there.

Any input of what it is? How can I treat it? And most importantly, how can I avoid it in the future?

damn sucks bro. IMHO, just go to a doctor and see what he/she says. You dont want to avoid this not knowing if you tore anything. Just go get it checked out.

I went to a doctor the first week, he moved my head arround, told me to not do anything, and prescribed an analgesic and a muscle relaxer... what the always do with the sports injury, just stop exercising...

sounds like a possible herniated disc in your neck...might want to go to the a general DR if it persists
