Windchill is like -30C right now, I'm sooo sick of working out in my basement. I heard east coast winters were harsh but yeesh (I'm from the west coast). I just want to get my new (unused) jogging stroller and go for a nice long run!!! I'm so tired of this weather. Anyone else prefer to train outside?

YES YES YES!!! I'm an avid hiker/backpacker, but I am also a bit of a fair-weather person. I really prefer not to be out in the rain, and here in Oregon we get more of that than I'd like. I am struggling to get the cardio I need at the gym because after 20 minutes I'm bored as heck.

I was living in Cleveland when Esmé was born. Baby bag by LLbean, and one of those plastic rain/wind shields to go over the baby jogger. She was warm and dry as a piece of toast, although i froze my ass off. I have a border collie. They do not know the meaning of rest days or time off

Sonti - we've had it worse in Winnipeg. Absolutely brutal winter so far. Shizzle loads of snow and lots of -40ish windchill days. I haven't even been cross country skiing or skating on the river yet. Booooooo.

I have a winter snow dog (Shiba Inu) but he keeps freaking out with his paws, I think it might be road salt?? I can't get the booties on him, he freaks out over that too. We walked 10 minutes today (baby just slept in the stroller). I just love the summer LOL
Winnipeg.... could be worse I guess!! I do workout DVDs filmed in tropic locations to pretend I am there

Ugh... I'm right there with you all. I despise winter and everything that comes with it. Last year we had a really mild winter here so we all, or at least I, got a little spoiled. This year it's been cold and gray and crappy almost every day. It just makes me want to eat an entire pan of Stouffer's Mac & Cheese and hide under the covers until at least the middle of May. Plus the really fat guy in my office insists on turning on the air conditioner every time he's here and it drives me insane. It's 25 degrees outside. We don't need the air on... Although I guess I should be grateful that I live in Kentucky and not Canada. -42!? Just... Wow...

Have at it OP, would you like to shovel my driveway? I hear ya though, regular temp here has been 5-10 for a couple weeks, not sure about the windchill but in the negatives for sure. I keep driving by the park and would love to go walk, run, or bike through it, but it's freezing and everything's covered in ice. Definitely gonna hang out there a lot when it gets nice, this winter has been sucky. I swear we've had like 6 snowstorms too where instead of it taking 30min to get to work it turns into a 2hr drive of death.

We went!! Actually, a few times a day since then I take the dog for 10ish minutes until he has paw discomfort, drop him off at home, and then keep going! I put the 3 month old on my back (he just passes out right away) and the toddler in the stroller. It's quite a workout since the baby + carrier is about 20lbs on my back.
I admit, it's been fun! I still miss the sun tho.

My EH's job transferred him to Tampa so we lived at the Gulf Coast (Treasure Island) from 2007-2010.
I got reverse seasonal affective disorder. One literally cannot be outside from April-Nov. (Well, except for the senior citizens. They seem to like it.) Can't run outdoors unless you're out before 5am. My dog didn't even like swimming in the Gulf---the water temps would get to 89 degrees! Zero surfable waves, unless it was the day before or after a 'cane.
I live nearly as close to the beach now---3 miles vs. 1---but I am MUCH happier with the climate. Cold weather doesn't keep us in; the oppressive heat and humidity did.
FL is nice in the winter. I am actually going down there 2/26-3/5 to bring my daughter to visit the in-laws and to take her to Disney. She was too young to appreciate it while we lived there. Feb and March are still nice there. By April it starts getting rough and by May I was back to hibernating during light hours.Sheriff John Brown always hated me

Ahhhh I'm ever so grateful for the break in the weather...x-country skiing yesterday and an hour's skate on the river today. *bliss*

I had 5+ feet of snow at the throat of my driveway this morning, after the plows decided to make one single pass down my street. I did about 2 hours of shoveling yesterday just to unearth my car and part of the driveway. Another 2 today to fix what the plows did lol. I figure if I shovel for 2 hours a day, that can be my "upper body" training and having to walk 2 miles to the corner store for food will be my cardio. ^.^
My town/state was so not prepared to be literally buried in snow. Still can't even drive down my street unless you drive a 4x4.
