Eating before and after workout important?

I have a good nutrition planned but even if I eat my proper caloric, carb, protein, and fat needs, I'm not sure weather it matters if I eat them before or after working out. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

Eat when you want. End of the day doesn't matter as long as you hit your macro needs.

I read on the internet that I should eat some carbs before working out to improve my performance, I wasn't sure if this was true.

^ I just wanted to step in and confirm that these two gents are 100% correct.

Meal timing and frequency has no relevance or benefits to your body. Just fit it in your macros during your day, and enjoy what you eat.

I train fasted because I simply can't workout with food in my system and I find eating before a workout is a terrible idea. Puked once during a DL rep max and it was embarrassing (at least it was the gym where I always go to, so it wasn't that bad... the staff didn't get that mad).

Depends upon the individual and their training. Some people feel more "energized" if they plow down carbs before while others not so much. Personally I prefer to train fasted - and I can train for nearly 3 hours powerlifting style with zero problems and actually feel better doing it that way.

Alright, sounds good. So as long as I meet my macro nutrients, I don't have to worry about when I eat. If anyone wants to say otherwise, feel free to say so.

What about light snacks? If you eat 1-2 granola bar(s) 1-2 hours before working out, will there be an increase in performance and gains?

For me personally, it wouldn't do a thing (assuming purely a calorie redistribution from a later meal).

Everyone is different. Personal preference really OP, you decide. There will be no increase in performance or gains really because our body counts our total caloric intake in a day-to-day basis, but if that placebo effect or you train better with food in your system, go for it.
