Im 17 and everyone in my grade is starting to get prom dates. I dont want to ask anyone from my grade because they are all annoying. There is a freshman girl who i want to ask but ive never talked to her before. Is it ok to still ask her? Last year me and almost half my grade went to our sophmore damce with girls we never talked to and it worked out fine. If i ask this freshman to prom and said we should hangout before hand to get to know each other would it be ok? Plus we run track together so im pretty sure she knows who i am.

I know since i dont talk to her it would be wicked awkward. But my plan was to ask her to prom and then say like i know we dont really talk, but maybe we could hangout a bit beforehand and get to know each other. Im a junior. Its kind of a bigger deal. But i was thinking what girl would say no to junior prom. Thats why i think if i just ask this girl she would say yes. And i mean she has to know who i am because we run the same track events so we practice practically with each other every day. I just never got around to talking to her.
