    Whey protein for weight loss?

I've been doing some research on whey protein and I've been given and read every answer under the sun. A trainer even said I should get up in the middle of the night to have a quick whey shake. What?

So I'm looking for a little clarification. Is whey protein something I might want to add to my diet if I'm looking to lose weight and shape up?

I did a quick search to see if there was another post on this, sorry if this is a duplicate.

Weight loss = Calories In < Calories Out
That is all. Insofar as composition and weight are concerned it doesn't matter if they come from whey protein or eggs or cake. As long as you are consuming less calories than your daily expenditure, you will lose weight.

The trainer that you talked to is speaking out of his butt hole.

Whey protein is to supplement protein intake if you are having problems getting enough. Whole foods are always better than supplements though.

Whey will not make you magically lose weight. Eating less than your body needs is what makes you lose weight. Enjoy a full night of sleep and tell your trainer to stop reading magazines.

Fat loss comes down to a calorie deficit.

Start here to figure calories needed:

Using protein shakes is completely individual, but they're not needed. You can do everything using whole foods.

I prefer to do all my eating/and or drinking while I'm awake...but that's just me.

    Good luck!
