Body Solid GCEC340 Cam Leg Ext./Curl Machine
I’m thinking of replacing my Powertec Workbench (with the Leg extension /Leg Curl) with this.
Can anyone explain what the advantage would be “using say 100lbs.” on the Powertec leg extension accessory,as opposed to the Body Solid leg Extension machine?
Are they entirely different as far as leg workouts or will they both basically achieve the same results,if so how do they differ?
I have a bad hip and bad knees and the Powertec Leg accessory is the only leg work I'm able to do,just wondering if the Body Solid leg machine would benefit me more.
Thanks in advance,

It's been forever since I've used one of the bench attachment leg extension/curls, so I can't really comment on things comparatively. But I had the cam style of leg extension and curl up until recently. I've had knee problems, and leg extensions on that thing hated my knees, so I stopped doing them. That left me doing just the leg curls, and I didn't much care for those, though they didn't hurt my knees. But at the start of the motion, there was no resistance at all, and then it cranked up to maximum as you went. It's probably similar to a lying leg curl attachment in that way, though. I also maxed out the weight I could put on the post pretty quickly.
Anyway, hated it. I've also heard others comment about seated leg curls being their least favorite kind of leg culs. I'm sure some people love them, but not liking them seems to be a common theme.

I have one that is similar. It is an Iron King that I bought for $75.
I mainly picked this unit up to save space in a crowded room and so I could have a machine set up for leg extensions to save time.
For leg extensions, I really like it. It can handle lots of weight. The only issue I have had is that with heavy weights, you have to secure the machine as it will move around some. Due to the heavier weight, I did have to use some of my old TK Bands to add to the padding on the foot bar.
For leg curls, I still like the the lying leg curls so I just keep attachment loaded on my bench and it is ready to go to save time.
Between using the bench and Iron King for leg curls, for me, it seems much better for comfort (I am 6'4"), it can handle heavier weights much easier, seems to be a much smoother action and not so jerky, and it does not take up a lot of room.()---() York Barbell Club #29 ()---()
