    Wife beater in the gym..

    Yea or Nay?

Been noticing more and more guys wearing them at the gym lately.. I wear a wife beater almost every day, but never to workout in.. Just doesn't seem right to me..

All about personal preference really, as long as you're comfortable and working out is all that really matters. I do see lots of tanks at my gym though. Personally, I work out in all sweats cause I'm trying to cut. I like to be wet when I leave the gym!

The "wife beater" look did come back recently. According to my teenage daughter, it's the "Jersey Shore" boys that brought them back.. Which may explain why I only ever see them worn in the gym..

I like them, and it would be convenient to workout in them since I have 50, just can't get that "Jersey Shore" reference out of my head..lol

I wear a wife beater under my dress shirts everyday, came from the days of me being a fat ass and the beaters trying to contain my fatty man-boobs. Now lately when I change I just throw a ratty t-shirt over my beater, if I get too hot I may take it off but I'm not THAT confident yet.

So riddle me this...is it just me or is it the folks who have the matching outfits, 50 dollar nike "sweat whisking" shirts the ones who work out the least? Seems like that at the gyms I've gone too. The ones with the 20yr old t-shirts and shorts seem to be the more serious lifters.

EDIT: I just realized I said I'm not that confident wearing a wife beater in public yet I took a picture and posted it as my avatar for the world to see...

I just had a new guy join my gym and he asked if I have any special clothing requirement. I said yes. Wear the ugly-est cloths you can. Why? Because I put motor oil on all my weights twice a month.

Sees wife beater in gym. Thinks "he's going to the squat rack to do curls". Rarely wrong.
Now cutting: Got a little more squishy than I wanted, heading down to 160lbs and seeing how things look.

I'd rather wear an athletic fit t shirt that doesn't get in the way. I'd have to shave my back and shoulders a lot more if I wore tank tops.

Most of the guys that wear tank tops in my gym are the last people that should be doing so. It really does not make sense to me. However, if you can pull one off and do wear it then you will likely be labeled as an attention whore. In the end go with what you are comfortable working in.

Yes. I'll wear them when I have a body to show off. Until then, I wear those breathable workout shirts that are too short. That belly roll I still have is motivation to keep doing what I'm doing.
No negative energy, I will mute ya
    Only Positive energy surrounds me
    Only, open minds around me
    Only, free spirits around me
I let my vision guide me.

Wear them more in the summer, no AC at my gym. Nothing to do with fashion, all my gym clothes are ancient and falling apart or cost a fiver from the discount store.

Ha! Home workout here too. (same avi as you!) I wear what ever the hell I want! Funny hats, flip flops, socks on my wrists (yes srs). I would do it in a gym too if that is what I was comfortable in. I am there to lift weights not put on a fashion show.

Guarantee, if you are wearing a wife-beater and squatting super heavy.....aint no one going to comment other then to say "nice squats"
