Cliffs:
-meet at my friend's place
-known him for ~2 years. Decent friends, and been over to his place many times to pregame
-we all go out and get drunk
- I don't even drink that much (I drink maybe 1x per month and usually just get a buzz... hard to gauge my tolerance and I wasn't trying to get super drunk), but somehow get super wasted
-come back to his place to pass out
-we all wake up in the morning and notice there's a dent in his fridge
-I don't remember doing it, but apparently I dented his fridge... I'm not denying it either cause I probably did it even though I was blacked out at the time
-none of the other guys were that drunk so I'm 99% sure I did it...
-I'm not the kind of person at all to smash stuff when drunk. I think I may have accidentally hit it with my head or something.
-I told him I'd take responsibility and pay for the repair
Well now it's a month later... and he gave me the bill yesterday and I'm not sure what to do. He had the entire fridge door replaced and installed and the total is $575 and he wants me to pay for it. I thought it'd be $100-$200 AT MOST. The dent is very small... about the size of a quarter.
I want to pay my fair share... but $575 for a quarter size dent on a fridge seems ridiculous to me.
Thoughts?

He didn't force you to get black out drunk.
He didn't force you to dent the fridge.
Nor did he force you to tell him you would pay to have it fixed.
You did all of that on your own, now man up, talk to him if you are too poor to pay him what's owed.
Nothing worse than ***gots who don't know how to drink.. I take it back, ***gots who reneg are worse.

you break it, you should pay for it. just explain to him you can't frontload that much cash and pay him back gradually as you can afford it.

Lol your friend is stupid for not even asking you if the repair cost is ok with you before having it done. If he's really your friend, he will give you choices. He can let you look for other options which can be much cheaper.
That's going to be hard as its already done. This could end up bad.
But since you promised anyway, you have to pay it I guess.Steam - jinda28

Amazing how many people feel being blackout drunk is a dumbass idea yet paying $700 to fix a quarter sized dent in a door is admirable.....
