Good quality protein from lean meats, egg whites and protein powder.

Carbohydrate sources should be low glycemic and simple sugars and fruits should be avoided as well as dairy products.

Fat content should be kept to a minimum.

Rotate carbohydrate intake as in do one high day, one medium day, one low day and repeat.

Start with 30 mins of cardio per day, 5 days per week, adding 5 minutes per week, while slowly decreasing carbohydrate intake every two-three weeks.

Try that and after a month re-evaluate...

high gi carbs are fine. fat is good for you. carb cycling is not needed for the results you are looking for. do 3x\week full body resistance training focused on compound movements and eat a moderate calorie deficit. Cardio optional. Srs. Check the link in my sig for more than enough info to get you where you want to be.
    The floundering has ended.

    No brain, no gain.

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon
