i don't get why people talk about this as if its some breaking news.
america is 10x our population, 10x our economy and 100x our military and very similar. of course the weaker country is going to have to take some crap from the american govt.
you remember when bush demanded that canada join the iraq war? we waited a bit before responding.. and chretien did the most ballsy thing a canadian PM ever could. after 9/11 at tensions at their highest, he stood in the middle of the house of commons and said no. america could have destroyed our economy if they wanted. its nothing new

I go to Canada a lot for work and generally like it up there (clean, modern etc) but the thing that kills me about going there is it seems like 75+% of people are like non "native" canadians, dont speak normal english, dont understand north american culture.. just bert stare at normal questions/requests/conversation.
