I think you are trying to find out if you are healthy weight. A doctor will tell you you are in good healthy shape based on a two dimensional measure of weight and height. You are skinny, but that doesnt necessarily mean youre as healthy as you could be. Personally i think youd look a lot better if you add some muscle mass. As for you "not being able to get abs", that is wrong. ANYONE can get abs, regardless of family genetics. If you arent making progress you need to do weighted stomach exercises to build up the ab muscles. Doing regular situps (no weight) might not be enough or it might take a lot longer that way. As for having big thighs, thats a good thing! I used to hate my big thighs/legs (mostly bc i used to b fat and my legs were mostly fat not muscle). Now i have started to embrace them. You will be able to get huge quads if u work your legs good. Legs are something that does have a lot to do w genetics and some people dream of having big legs/calves, but i can actually achieve it which is great! Embrace your good genetics! (;

jw29pa,
Are you just looking for people to tell you "everything is ok, you're gonna be fine, you're healthy, and guess what it's even better… your body fat% is very low!" ?
What is your goal? What are you looking to accomplish?
Obsessing over a bodyfat% NUMBER is confusing symbols for substance. A % is just a symbol, or, a measure. What you should be concerned about is your actual body. Are you happy with where you are? If yes, great. If not, then what are you not happy with? Too much fat? Too little muscle? etc.
If you tell people here what you want, they can help you get it.

@OP: Bodybuilding/fitness standards are different from everyman/layman standards. Just because your doctor tells you something doesn't mean his word is the undeniable truth. He's not there to judge you; he's there to make a buck.
We ARE here to judge you. By the the standards of people who care about this sort of thing, you are not lean. You are not muscular. You are somewhat average/soft.
And I've been 20% before with visible ribs. IF your ribs AREN'T visible at all, you aren't lean at all, no matter what the plus size/heart disease or whatever movement tries to tell you.

I'm sure he has, this thread is 3 years old! Ha
To the guy who bumped this ancient thread - people store fat in different areas, it's just genetics. I'm lean everywhere but my lower belly, just gotta get past it. If your BF is low enough they'll pop out, most people just give up to early.Starting Weight 215, 25% BF
Short Term Goal: 10% BF 160
Long Term Goal: A Lean 205!!
