It's an EXTREMELY dark and subtle comedy. It' not meant to be hilarious like your typical mindless popcorn flick that gets cheap laughs off toilet jokes lol. It's the Coen brothers, they are very original. I can see how people wouldn't like their style because it doesn't appeal to everyone, but their films are very well made. Some of the best filmmakers in the country at the moment imo.

My vote would go to batman the dark knight as most overrated. Nerds and regular moviegoers alike were frothing at the mouth over it for years on end.
Sure it's a great movie but not THAT great. IMO people rated it so highly because Heath ledger died then people overhyped his role as the joker etc. (no disrespect)
Also I couldnt stop myself from laughing at Bruce Wayne's voice when he's batman, the fact that it was full srs just made it funnier lmao"People have got to learn not to reply to trolls." - Noliberals4

Spielberg and Bay are both *******s that haven't made anything truely great since the 90's and anything good they do make is swallowed up with the sheer amount of cinema garbage they also involve themselves in.

Hurt Locker was the worse movie I've even seen. Only reason it won Best Picture because the director was a women. Also people in Hollywood hate James Cameron. Hurt Locker was god awful. Any movie that with war and interpersonal battle quickly gets a boost. But Hurt Locker was simply terrible and doesn't even hold a candle to an average war movie like Jarhead.
Here goes my list just from recent memory:
-Stepbrothers
-Hangover
-Inception(not bad, but not memorable either)
-DeeJango(terrible movie)
-Inglorious Bastards(Tarantino last good movie was Kill Bill 1)
Face it, most good movies don't get made anymore. No matter how brilliant a director can be, they have only can produce x amount of solid movies. Nolan while making some gems(The Prestige, one of the most underrated movies and Nolan's best movie), has made lots of mediocre movies. Problem is that studios know that audiences flock to recognizable franchises/directors even though again, they can produce so many given good movies in x amounts of years.
Honestly all the talent has moved to TV such, as Dexter, Mad Men(brilliant show), Lost, etc.
Most underrated movie this past year:
Prometheus. Even though the storyline was weak, and could have been great to epic movie, it is still really good movie with great scenes and moments. What makes great movies are great memorable scenes and great characters(David). "Big things, have small beginnings."
Here are some memorable quotes you will recognize since they have an emotional tie when reading them making them great scenes/good movies.
"You said I'm funny. How the **** am I funny, what the **** is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!"
"You have to know the answer to this question! If you died right now, how would you feel about your life?
Narrator: I don't know, I wouldn't feel anything good about my life, is that what you want to hear me say? Fine. Come on!"
"Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?"
Also those turds/overrated movies did not have one memorable scene I can think of.Last edited by JohnMKeynes; 02-06-2013 at 01:15 AM.

Recently it would have to be Lincoln.
Literally cringed during the intro when the random soldiers start reciting parts of the Gettysburg Address, almost as if i was watching a stage play, complete with cheesy musical cues. Plus shoehorning of black soldiers into every possible scene plus the classic Spielberg sentimentality with the speeches and the dramatic sunlight coming through every ****ing window all the god damn time. Plus the trailers and all information leading up to the release hinted at a Lincoln Biopic, but what we got 2 hours and something odd minutes about political discourse.
It was ridiculous. Lewis was good as Abe Lincoln though.Former 09er - Back for more!!!
