Say you eat 150g of protein and 2000 total calories for maintence. Say you do a lifestyle change, up your activity, and your caloric expenditure increases to 3000 cal. Would you need to eat more protein to gain muscle mass or could those extra calories burned be replaced with all carbs? Basically, does protein depend on body weight or on percentage of total calories? Thanks.

150 gram protein would be low for a guy your size.
200 gram protein sounds more like it. That will be enough no matter how active you are.Recommended science based fitness & nutrition information:
