See, now the thing is that this was a pretty significant setback for Overeem.

Overeem is one of the most experienced fighters in the sport today and was on the verge of a UFC heavyweight title shot and you're going to tell me that keeping your hands at your waist during striking exchanges with a guy with huge power is just getting "a bit" careless? He's likely on the tail end of his prime right now and if he's making rookie mistakes like getting ko'd while showboating, I think you have to accept that he isn't going to be a lock against most of the top 10. He's not some 20 year old kid, at this point in his career the whole "Oh he just had a brain fart, he'll get him in the rematch" isn't good enough anymore imo.

That said, I hope he does come back strong. I'll be rooting for him in his next fight (like I was on saturday) unless it's against JDS.

The good thing for Overeem is that the division isn't stacked. Bigfoot was destroyed by Cain. And for two rounds Overeem had his hands at his waist and was sticking his chin out and managed to dominate Bigfoot, so he shouldn't be getting a title shot anytime soon.

If they book him against JDS and he wins that fight, he'd be right back in title contention.
