Overeem is one of the most experienced fighters in the sport today and was on the verge of a UFC heavyweight title shot and you're going to tell me that keeping your hands at your waist during striking exchanges with a guy with huge power is just getting "a bit" careless? He's likely on the tail end of his prime right now and if he's making rookie mistakes like getting ko'd while showboating, I think you have to accept that he isn't going to be a lock against most of the top 10. He's not some 20 year old kid, at this point in his career the whole "Oh he just had a brain fart, he'll get him in the rematch" isn't good enough anymore imo.

That said, I hope he does come back strong. I'll be rooting for him in his next fight (like I was on saturday) unless it's against JDS.

This it was a major setback. He lost a fight to a guy he shouldn't have because he was careless which is bad by itself. Worse yet it now most likely pits him against jds who is an extremely dangerous opponent even if reem doesnt act like a idiot. Should he lose that fight as well he may never be able to repair the damage to his carreer and get back to a title shot.

Also people criticized his chin before, every ko makes it harder and harder to take punishment.

Overeem isn't world Champion material, he's always messing up. He's a talented and great fighter and one of the world's best, but it's not his abilities that hold him back, it's his mentality. He should've got a title fight a year ago, but he's either failing a drug test or get hammered while goofing off. A Chamion doesn't go around pushing women in the face.

It would take luck for him to get the UFC title, but he wouldn't keep it very long.
